I love my current setup. I use it for street. There are no parks or pools where I live. Nearest park is 4 hour drive away. I'm skating 8.5 blank CCS deck, Thunder 149 highs, 1/8 shock pad, bronsons shieldless bearings, Bones Hardcore Hard bushings, and 56mm 100a blank wheels or 56mm bones rough riders for cruising. This is the 3rd time I changed my setup in a couple years. I'm surprised how the wide boards suit me.

@Pierre✨ shockpads are soft rubber inserts that can be placed to reduce the feeling of vibration or impacts felt. Bushings are the part built into your trucks that effect turning. If you are buying a board and trucks your trucks will already have them. The bare basic requirements for building a board is deck, grip tape, hardware(bolts), trucks, wheels, and bearings.riser pads and shockpads are extra things. Riser pads are the same as shockpads but harder and giver you a higher truck. This can change things like timing for tricks. As for what you go with it's all preference for the most part. Even my current setups are different from what I listed here 2 years ago. So it can always change over the years as you develop you skate style and find what works for you.

@@pigu6324 I would go with a softer wheel. If your roads are really rough but you want to still do tricks where your wheels are more forgiving to wheelbite and easier to slide I would go with something like 95a OJ Nomads or 97a Slimeballs. Smaller Ricta Clouds are perfect for that. They're shaped like a street wheel but they're kinda soft as well so you'd be going smoother over the sidewalks. You really should think about the type of tricks you want to be doing, if tricks are your main priority i'd go with the 92a but if you want to have the best riding go with the 78a, but the 86a are a very good middle ground.

I always found 52s best for tricks but I like the speed of the larger ones, up to 55mm. As long as I can remember, from even back in the mid/ late 90s, my buddies, who would buy their decks preassembled, from places like CCS, seemed to always have larger wheels. When using their boards it was unforgiving. A slight weight shift and the board accelerated so easy it got away from you, fast. Even a shuvit, with weight too far forward, or back, was super scary on 54/ 56mms. Similarly, on the 52s I'd push off at a low speed, to learn tricks, and if I took too long to execute the trick, I was already virtually at full stop, since each bump scrubbed the speed off too fast. I think, next, I may try some in-between, like 53mm.

@@SkateWarehouse loving the 53s. Slightly faster, but not so much so that your mistakes are accelerated. I had to go with the Orbitals, from Decomposed, as they are offset, for freestyle/ relearning my rail stands. I didn't want the wobbley nature of standing on the axles, which is how I learned to do them in the 90s. They are so nice. I just wish offsets could come in that size in an 85A. I like a softer ride.

I learned to skate on longboard wheels. I was a longboarder for a while and then one of my boards got runover, so i was left with i bisected deck and perfectly working trucks and wheels. So i bought a skateboard deck and chucked them on for the hell of it.

To any person who has basic skateboarding skills (you can ride, turn, ollie while moving) and is looking for info on wheels.. this is missing a lot... like, 75% of it... The overall size is only about 25% of what you need to take into consideration. Width is equally as important as the diameter. So is the durometer (hardness). Both of these impact overall speed/acceleration just as much as diameter. Then there is the shape/cut, which doesn't affect the speed/acceleration at all, but will have a dramatic impact on how smooth and quick your trucks turn. All of these factors influence stability and therefore your overall confidence on the board. I would highly suggest if you are looking to upgrade your wheels, you check out some other videos. SW does often have good prices. Just maybe not the best informational videos.

Yes, speed would decrease. The setup you have sounds pretty good as is.

I have a question, I’m a beginner and I got Acid wheels, but they are too hard and don’t go over less smooth terrain very well. Every time I ride on a sidewalk its suuuper loud and it feels like it’s mildly caught every time it reaches a crack. What wheels would you recommend?

Yes, those wheels will work fine with your board. Just make sure to throw some riser pads on to give your wheels some clearance. www.skatewarehouse.com/risers.html
