The paint you buy usually has its recommendations in the instructions/on the bucket. For latex paints, it's usually .15 -.21. The fan size, I would go with an 8-10 inch for the walls. So, something like a 515 spray tip.

@@sarahcinelli5328 it never worked for me but I only tried using the blue guard once and I bought it off amazon so it might of been a knock off. But it works and I called graco and they say it will so if you want you can use a blue guard and tip, but make sure you get an official graco blue guard and tip or the same thing that happened to me might happen to you

Really depends personal preference 4 13 513 if in tight areas 515 if your full fledged spraying, remember one thing tho it's stain! If you spray inconsistent it will show!! I'd chose a all area to start and bring the wood to desired stain then stick to that consistency

So, here's where this get's confusing on a very fundamental level... I purchased the ProX17. It came with an orange tip protector, leading me to believe, that's the only kind of tip(s) the ProX17 can use. This video explains what the tips themselves are used for....which was very helpful. It does NOT explain what machines they can be used with, which I find absolutely mind-boggling, given the details of operating these sprayers are *extremely* important, or you'll have a epic mess on your hands. And, the manual that is given with these are borderline useless, and that's being nice about it. The sprayer itself seems to be of a good quality (time will tell). *So, here's the question: Can I purchase a lower pressure (blue) tip guard, or any other color tip guard/tip for that matter, and use it in place of the orange tip guard/tip???* When painting indoors and trying to control the overspray, I found that I had to use an excessive amount of spray force to get rid of the "border" stripes on sray-fan. I'm assuming that meant I should get the appropriate tip guard/tip for low-pressure spraying. I just need to know if the low pressure tip-guard/tips will fit, and work with the ProX17. That should've been the first piece of info mentioned in this video. "What models accept which accessories". Or, the customer runs the risk of buying an expensive tip guard/tip, only to learn it won't fit their machine. I'm hoping the answer it all the tips will fit, as long as you have the appropriate tip-guard.

The answer is no. The tips from home depot are compatible with the orange tip guard. For the low pressure you have 2 buy the blue tip guard and green tip from sherwin williams. You wouldn't even be able 2 fit a low pressure tip in a orange guard. They are made differently. Good side is when you purchase the new tip guard and tip you can run it from your machine without incident

I found that, I wound up purchasing a couple of different tips,and experimenting with the pressure amounts, which if memory serves, if too low can cause all kinds of problems, along with thinning the paint, the amount of which is entirely dependent on the paint itself. So, it will take a bit of experimentation. And, I never got rid of the overspray entirely. So, with my particular project, I did maybe 20% of the project with the spray tips, in rooms that didn’t require a ton of “overspray prep” (i.e. garage, one-window rooms, etc). Then, I found that the roller tool that fits on the sprayer was every bit as helpful as the spray, as far as home interior walls go. I did use the sprayer on the entire garage, the molding (to get that “spray finish” we all love). But, at the end of the day I wound up finding the roller tool to be as quick helpful, and FAR less overspray, and general clean up. Just get plenty of the pad refills. I’ll follow up with the tips I purchased, as well. Not to state the obvious, but don’t even have so much as you A/C running with you do this. The over spray will be so fine, that ANY draft, even if you can’t physically feel it, will cause that overspray to wind up on walls all the way on the other side of the room.Oh…and using these machines (at least mine anyway) due to the paint consumed in the line, machine, etc…plan for an extra gallon of paint (the prices which are absolutely nauseating these days, I’m sorry to say). Stay tuned on the tips. Keeping things simple. 1). Don’t use too little pressure….and invest in the roller attachment. 2). Thin the paint (using the bare minimum at first, to avoid runs, which will be BIG issue if not careful)…3). Those 3M all-in-one masking tools (all-in-one, tape/ paper rollers that allow you to mask off large areas quickly). Those three things made a huge difference in the quality, and efficiency of the job, and served me well throughout our entire house.

The video does not explain anything about the viscosity of the paint used. Personally, I had significant difficulties using a very dense ‘super washable’ paint with the 515 nozzle. Many paints are designed for use with a brush and roller, and therefore do not provide instructions for use with an airless sprayer. Graco technical support does not respond to these issues, does not explain how to dilute the paint if necessary, or provide guidelines regarding viscosity. Wagner, on the other hand, provides a viscosity measurement tool to facilitate preparation.
