Look keo blade right now, but might go back to shimano. It’s a lot more difficult to clip in with the keo blade, maybe because of the fixed 12 Nm tension. Shimano cleat is ugly af but very easy to clip in, and just feels slightly more stable, at least to me.

Shimano SPD mtb pedals, on and off road. Light, strong, double sided entry, and 6 degrees of float to allow for knee tracking error. As a bonus, you can actually walk around in the shoes normally.

I had Time pedals back in the day, then switched over to speedplay X2 and never looked back. Love the pedal system and too bad they couldn't make it and sold out to Wahoo. I know Speedplay was having a hard time from consumers buying the pedal components and buying the Titanum spindles to create their own light weight Ti X2 pedal for half the cost. Speedplay litigated these companies, apparently wasn't enough to keep market share

Isn't it possible that the zero float cleats are more suitable for beginners as they - assumably - allow you to unclip a little bit easier ? (as the easy unclip is a big issue for beginners)
@GCPerformance182 жыл бұрын
no because for beginners being clipped in can cause a new feeling in the knee as is, so we want that float at the top and bottom of the pedal stroke, because when your foot is in a fixed position we need some lateral movement for the knee

There's really no reason for zero float for 99% of racers. You won't lose wattage. I've been riding X-series (30 degrees float) for decades and have never had issues with my heel kicking out. It just doesn't happen if you ride with them for more than a week or two.
@GCPerformance183 жыл бұрын
yea its all preference, its just like they could probably get away with not riding slammed 140mm stems but thats whats best for them they feel
@vomErsten3 жыл бұрын
It wasn't the lack of float on the blue Shimano cleats doing your knee in, it was the fact that you had it at the wrong angle for your body geometry and the relative lack of float meant you couldn't flex it into the right angle. Basically, less float means you have to get your cleat angle closer to perfect than you would with more float. So here's a question: why is 3-bolt SPD-SL still a thing? The 2-bolt SPD design would allow you to put a recessed cleat into the shank, letting the shoe be more walkable. 2-bolts are also lighter. What gives?
@AJXOXO-vz1pn Жыл бұрын
It’s a bigger platform 3-bolt Shimano SPD-SL cleats compared to 2-bolt Shimano SPD pedals.

@GCPerformance182 жыл бұрын
really? I would have to think if your putting out max power and your foot is in a fixed postion it would put out more power then if you are in a floated pedal and you have some movement to redirect some of that power from going strait down
