You'll probably need a 20" kick, 12 Tom and try to go 15" floor (a 14 is too small and a 16 too big. Snare get an ally. All the major drum makers have their own version. I like Ludwig's the least; Noble and coolly do it best, and British drum co has a classic one also . As far as kit brand, all are great, but find one you love the sound of when play it. Gretsch make a great jazz kit at several price points. Keep in mind shells with rering will be higher pitched shell and become doinky, instead of that classic no rering gretsch jass tone.
