I’ve been using the flexi curl smith gel and love it. I have to use quite a lot to get good definition and multiple days out of my washday but it doesn’t weigh down my fine hair at all. I have fine 2c/3a curls and it’s works great. I use a curl cream underneath for moisture as I have high porosity hair. I can get 3/4 days without any refreshing at all. Would definitely recommend. I’ve tried the weightless leave in conditioner but I can’t use a leave in I’ve realised because they over moisturise my fine hair. A little curl cream works better for me I’ve found.

I always wanted to try them as well but looking at the prices it was always so much! Then I noticed that they have the travel size and that has saved me from having to buy products and spending and not liking them (which has happened too often with others). I have now tried all 4 of these CS gels. My favorite is the Curl Defining Styling Souffle’ as I get the best results for my fine medium/high porosity hair. I prefer a protein gel and I took your advice and used a protein cream under it. My second choice is the Hydro Flexi Jelly and I got amazing results too ! I bought the smaller size of the Shape Up Aqua Gel and it left a terrible residue on my hair and my hair got all in tangles in spite of the gel being very runny it glommed on to my damp hair. I had to wash it out. Maybe I needed more water but my hair felt dirty and it wasn’t a good wash day . I guess we learn by trying. I’ll try it again another time. I told my hairdresser about your channel because of your knowledge and you list all the ingredients and that’s extremely helpful. I’m a pharmacy technician and I love learning about ingredients and I’ve learned so much about all the different effects of the ingredients they use in the products. Thanks Gena. 🤗🌹😻

I have fine, low density hair and have been loving the in shower style fixer. My hair tends to be too soft, and this gel gives my hair some grittiness that helps it retain volume. My best Curlsmith wash week involved the multitasking conditioner as a rinse out (although I adore it as a leave-in), the weightless air dry cream, and the in shower style fixer. Made it to day 4 NO REFRESHES.

Hi... did you apply the in shower in wet soaking hair? I think my hair is like yours low density fine and type 3c... any thoughts? Thanks!!!
@kryki_cha62063 жыл бұрын
@@ojosdepechicheonline I like to walk the line between damp and soaking wet. So wetter than damp but not soaked, if that makes sense. But the wetter your hair when you apply it, the softer the results in my experience. Adding more leave-in and/or cream before the gel will help with stiffness as well. The humidity will soften it up too, so having it slightly stiff when you first scrunch out the cast might be a good thing before venturing out into the humidity.

Thanks for this! I wonder if mixing some water into the hard hold gel before applying it would help it go on more easily. I haven’t tried a hard hold gel yet, but that has helped me with other products that I was afraid of over-doing. I disagree about the curl pattern not mattering though. I have a looser wave pattern with more “down” than “side-to-side”, and any amount of stretch noticeably changes the shape, so I’m always looking for the lightest-weight product that can do the job. I agree that other factors are more important (coarse hair can resist product weight better than mine), but part of it is just geometry: folks with a tighter pattern have more shape to lose, and may not mind sacrificing a little of it for their other style goals.

I got the curl quencher cowash which smelled like shit and didnt do much of anything, then I got the hold me softly style balm and it made my hair piecey, greasy looking, dull and my scalp was itchy and flaky. I’m considering returning the products and trying something else, because I don’t feel like it’s worth spending so much money getting even more products in this line just to feel horribly self conscious about my hair all day. For reference I have wavy, fine hair with high porosity and low density. It’s just dry, dull looking and my curls never stay in place. Also it’s frizzy to hell and back. Idk, I’m tired. I have pretty thick/dense hair, am used to being a little heavier handed with my product and I hated it the first several times I tried it. My hair constantly came out a sticky, tangled mess. Then I finally tried it in the winter and only used a pea sized amount on each section. I got pretty good results but could have used a bit more. The next time I finally got the amount right and loved it. I like it even better when I pair with their strongest hold gels but I have wet frizz and tend to deal with a lot of frizz in general. To this point it's not even curling properly I don't know what to do Would you help me??
@prettykittyga762 жыл бұрын
Hi! I know this is a late reply and that your question wasn’t for me, but I would say to deep condition the coarse section of your hair with a very moisturizing deep conditioner on a weekly basis if you don’t already and to use only moisturizing products on that section. You may have to initially use a clarifying shampoo if you have been using protein-heavy products for a long time. I would continue to use products with protein on the finer front and inside sections, but to avoid using them on the coarse section. I know that it may be somewhat inconvenient but you have to treat the coarse and fine sections like two completely different heads of hair because the care that they require are completely different.

Hey Gena, sadly enough I missed the live chat on your premiere. But I wanted to ask you what could cause my hair loss? I have very similar hair to yours, low density as well and since the beginning of april I've been experience excess hair loss! I can literally pull out the hair, just by pulling very gently :(. Im guessing it's an ingredient in the Shea Moisture curl enhancing smoothie, could you confirm this for me?

This is not something that can be diagnosed over the internet. You should go see your doctor as soon as possible. This could be related to some health problems. Allergic reactions usually have allot of pain and discomfort and warning sign before extreme hair loss.

@@rachellep2581 You think so? I even started using vitamin supplements because I know I must have a deficiency of vitamin D, but my hair loss is only getting worse. I do know that I've started shedding hair the same week I started using the shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie, can't it be the ingredients? Fyi I'm only 16 years old and have never had any health problems.

@@susxo2295 a 16-year-old isn’t gonna lose a bunch of hair unless something is going on. Go to the doctor and bring any of the products that may be causing an allergic reaction so that they can include them in an allergy test if need be.

I don't just dislike what I've tried, by this line, but I hate what it did to my hair. Oddly, the first time I tried it, I had a pretty good hair day, then never again...Big, Fluffy, no definition, flyaways...& lots of FRIZZ. NO WAY, NO THANKS!

This is what it did to my hair. I keep trying but my hair looks like crap. My fav product is sold out everywhere. What do you use?

I'm confused. The title for this video is how to choose a gel according to your curl type, but you say in the video that you don't like to talk about curl type. So not helpful for me.
@GenaMarie2 жыл бұрын
Type meaning porosity, texture, density. I mean that it’s not just about curl pattern such as 3A or 4B for example. Curl pattern has not effect on how a gel works for you, but porosity, texture, and density do. Hope that helps clarify things! ❤️
