In golf it’s so important to have the right club for the right shot. It’s no different in bass fishing or any fishing really. For big swim baits having the right rod reel line and hardware it massively critical. Learned the hard way fishing the Huddleston’s. Just needed to be able to lean back and drive those hooks hard. Keep the fish pinned and win the battle lol. OMG what fun that is. Great video dude.

I'm using an iRod Bailey's Swim Rod for Huds and bigger glides and the iRod Sniper for S Wavers and Hud 68's. Pretty good feel on both setups so far.
@igotnothing26573 жыл бұрын
As a fellow bank beater I'd love to hear your thoughts on shorter rods for glides. A lot time due to trees it's hard to fish above a 7'6" been messing around with st Croix's premier musky rods. Just curious what you go with in these situations
@igotnothing26573 жыл бұрын
I think it's a subject that's pretty unspoken when it comes to swimbaits is throwing 3 oz and under swimbaits with limited cast room. I think there is a ton ppl like me that are lucky to get couple hours to get out and still want to target bigger swimbait fish with the less then ideal conditions
@Hoveyish9 күн бұрын
iRod Genesis Sniper Swimbait rod. 7'6" Heavy rated 2-6. Feels great with a 200 real of your choice of course.

ahhh...it all makes sense now. I knew a guy who broke off a hinkle, and immediately went home and got his scuba gear looking for it. didn't find it, but eventually dredged it luckily with a lipless crankbait. Now that I just started getting into swimbaits, I know why.

I'm currently fishing a Dobyns Fury 806 sb for both glides and soft plastics. Ive definitely noticed the tip being too stiff for the trebles, but luckily it doesn't seem too severe
@geoffreythekingfishing3 жыл бұрын
Really? I thought the fury rods were similar to the champion series which were fairly parabolic. Good to know! Glad the rod works for you though!
@benswanney66933 жыл бұрын
@@geoffreythekingfishing The 795sb is moderate fast while the 806 is just fast. It's still more parabolic than some of my other fast action rods, but not as much as I'd like

I used to do a lot of beachcasting, before I got really into lure fishing, and when casting we always use a shock leader at a rate of 10lbs per Oz weight. Perhaps if casting a really big lure on 20 or 30 lbs line a shock leader would be good idea.

Another great video bro! Ive been looking to get into the swim bait game and buying cheaper gear to start. I normally don’t buy the high end stuff anyway. But i was going to start with the dobyns fury 7’9 swimbait MH fast. 1-5oz. Throwing 6-8 inch baits soft and hard. Paired with a piscifun phantom. It has good reviews for the price point. Plus the colors match and it looks dope! The budget is around $200-$250 max. Should i consider another rod or reel?

i have a st croix mojo bass swimbait rod its awsome and good you can throw really anything up to 3to 3 1/2 ounces not really up to 4 but since your a tournament angler i would think you arent throwing the huge stuff, i think itll be good for you. also its sweet spot is in the 2 ounce range
