NIce video. really interesting and nice presentation. I Just bought a euronymphing rod so may have to wait a bit. But one pointer. When describing the Rods, Say the name of the rod over and over again, Don't use "it" or "this rod", so when forget the name and click back to any point in the video, you will mention the name of the rod every 10 seconds.

I’ve been using my wife’s Sierra, I really like it I fished a bigger river The Lower Salmon down to our local little east Gallatin. I would have already made a purchase but can’t decide between the sawtooth, the zoom, or the Yari, I can always use the Sierra so wondering what would pair well?
@tenkararodco
@tenkararodco 3 жыл бұрын
Thats awesome! So the Teton Zoom is similar to the Sierra (but a little bit stiffer) when fished at 10.5 and then similar to the Sawtooth at 12 ft. Its kind of a two for one. The Sawtooth is a great all around rod that has a fun action but also can handle bigger fish, and the Yari is a really amazing small fish traditional style rod. In your case I would either go with the Sawtooth since you also already have that Sierra size covered. Let me know if that helped!

When I first started Tenkara fishing years ago... the stiffness of the rods were given in numbers... 6:6 was a softer rod that bent from tip to handle ... the 6:4 had a stiff backbone and the last few feet at the tip was more flexible... I've noticed the rods for sale this days do not mention the rod taper any more... or am I missing something here? Some times I like to fish a soft rod, and other times a stiffer/fast taper rod.

What would you recommend for a complete beginner who would like to have the option of fishing both streams, rivers, and alpine lakes (and land fish large enough to eat)? Or does no such thing exist?
@tenkararodco
@tenkararodco 6 ай бұрын
Teton Zoom would be the best bet. It collapses down to 10.5 ft. so you can fish smaller streams but then gives you the option to fish it longer at 12ft. and you can put a longer line on it for fishing high alpine lakes. Handles bigger fish too we have caught salmon on it!

How would you expect the Rocky to fair with northern snakehead fish? They are becoming ubiquitous in Maryland and because of the ecosystem they enjoy, their habitat can sometimes be hard to reach. I think that if a tenkara type of set up could handle their beastliness, it would be a great way to get at them!
@tenkararodco

We don't have any experience with them but judging from their average size I think the Rocky could handle them. They look like they would be so fun to catch on a Tenkara rod!
