I'd love to see a video where you systematically go over the effect of each tint on vision. For example: are blue tints a bad idea for someone sensitive to light? Would it be better to choose a warmer colour? I know you mention orange often as ideal for driving. When should I pick lavender/purple tints, for instance? It would be really useful to have a colour by colour elaboration of the impact from both a style and subjective perspective.

Hi! I've been watching your videos for a while to kind of figure out what my toddler needs. She's 20 months old and she's really light sensitive outdoors or whenever we go that there's fluorescent lights. She wears prescription glasses and I just ordered a rose tinted pair from Axon Optics in the US for bright indoor situations. But I'm still unsure as to what's the best way to protect her eyes. Her outdoor pair of prescription sunnies don't seem enough in some situations. You seem very knowledgeable. What would you recommend in terms of tint and any other add ons for an indoor pair and also an outdoor pair? The information you gave on the mirror coating was very new too me. Thank you so so much! My daughter is too young to tell us what works better for her.
@thespectaclefactory2 жыл бұрын
Hi Luisa, Thanks for your comment, and I appreciate your request for help with this... thank you. But it would be inappropriate for me to comment on your young daughter's care. You should consult with an opthalmologist or optometrist locally who can examine her eyes and make the right recommendaion. Dark + mirrored sunglasses may be beneficial in strong sunlight but might also limit her perception of the world.
@jackesioto Жыл бұрын
Now, not all lens tint colors and intensities are created equal. Which one is best depends on lifestyle, occupation, and situation. Green is a good one for certain sports such as golf. Rose and the related tint FL41 (which sort of is a mix between pink and orange or brown, basically boysenberry coloured) is often recommended for those with migraine related photophobia. Yellow is the most common tint color for computer blue light glasses and night driving glasses. Gray and brown are more generic and good for the most occasions, even formal and serious ones(at least outdoors on bright days), they have minimal or no colour distortion and the latter gives a warm hue to surroundings. Blue lenses should generally be avoided like the plague according to many experts as too much blue light isn't good for the eyes. And most of the other colors available are best for casual, fun occasions, and are sometimes prescribed for dyslexia or irlen syndrome. As for intensities, anything 50% or below (categories one and two for those using that system) are okay for most situations inside, outside and during lower light conditions. The main exceptions are while at work in a corporate office or attending a somber, serious event like in court during proceedings (situations in which wearing glasses with even light tints is considered bad form and often against the actual written rules), although if you're light sensitive in which case etiquette and protocol generally take a back seat to one's comfort and health. Intensities of around 52% or higher (the category three and four tints) tend to really be rated for outdoor use in bright sunlight only.

I have red eyes from dry eyes that makes me self conscious. What color and tint percentage would you recommend to hide the red in my eyes without being too distracting of a tint
@thespectaclefactory2 жыл бұрын
Probably blue 25%, as blue nullifies red.

Hi, I'm looking for colored glasses that would be suitable for wearing in the office and behind the computer, but at the same time people wouldn't see that my eyes are red and tired? My eyes would be covered like wearing sunglasses. Thanks for the advice.

You want around a 30% tint + flash coating. That would do the trick. Email me rob@thespectaclefactory.com if you want us to make them for you

can we have polarised glass with presipcritoing glass and are they good for night driving

I already have brown polarised and grey polarised sunglasses as well as regular red tinted glasses. Would Emerald or Graphite Green be good for a pair of transition glasses for everyday use to get accurate colours?

I drive 30 miles in one direction to get to work. Some days are really sunny, and the sun is directly in my eyes. Some days, not so much. Since transition lenses don't change because of the windshield, what do you suggest?
@thespectaclefactory2 жыл бұрын
I suggest polarised, mirrored sunglasses. Particularly Transitions DriveWear with a mirror (that's the crucial part, to reflect the sun away from your eyes). I'd be happy to help you with a pair - email us hello@thespectaclefactory.com if you want us to

I'm looking into rimless frames, and I'm trying to decide whether to get a solid tint or gradient. I like gradient in general, but I'm not sure if a rimless frame would look better with solid tint 🤔. I was thinking 15-20 if I did a solid tint, and 25 if I did a gradient. What would you recommend??
@thespectaclefactory Жыл бұрын
Both can work - I'd say it depends on the shape. With bigger shapes, gradient. With smaller shapes, solid. Would love to make the lenses for you

I have a pair of thin titanium glasses that are coated black. What tint would suit best for indoor and outdoor use? I know you said the photo chromatic lenses dont replace sunglasses. I am not sure which color tint would be ideal for most conditions? Gradient or not? I do want something that will go darker outdoors. Thanks in advance! Oh and I have a pretty light skin tone and hazel eyes.

Hi! There are many, many options that would work with a thin black titanium frame. Maybe we should go more in-depth with a consultation? If you'd like to, email us - hello@thespectaclefactory.com We'd love to make custom lenses for you

Hello, Robert. I recently subscribed to your channel and I thoroughly enjoy your videos. That being said, I am seeking a pair of eyeglasses that are smart and modern. I like your rounded frame style preference and it would suit my rectangular face shape. I want a color that compliments my fair skin tone which is similar to yours but with pinker cheeks (as you can see in my photo). I am gravitating toward a rimless frame (Silhouettes) that are timeless, affordable and versatile with my wardrobe for all occasions. If I buy a pair of frames, I am thinking dark charcoal grey or a dark chocolate color. Please advise.

I'd love to help style you with your next pair of glasses. Could you email me via rob@thespectaclefactory.com. It will be easier to communicate that way or we could even set up a video call if you prefer.

How do tints perform in night traffic lights..what percentage of tint would be recommended for night travel?
@thespectaclefactory Жыл бұрын
No more than 25% tint at night. It's best to have a clear lens

Hey - I have a pair of Ahlem acetate frames in black and thinking of trying a first tint; would you recommend a 12% tint or a gradient 25% to 10%? Black or Grey? Enjoy your videos, thanks!
@thespectaclefactory Жыл бұрын
It depends on the shape as to whether solid or gradient, and probably black. Just be careful to not make them too dark. A brown or green tint might make a nice contrast to soften them. Would love to make the lenses for you!

This is very informative. I have problem with sharp light in general and using screens a lot at work so my eyes get overused. At the same time I have a professionally calibrated home movie theater, and take pictures with a color calibrated Smartphone with Zeiss lenses - so I need precise colors and white balance. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to strike a balance? I think zeiss smartlife spectacles coild be part of the solution but haven't found tte possibility in my home country Denmark. Any thoughts?

@@thespectaclefactory Thank you for the response. I managed to find a Zeiss Vision Partner in my city, and have bought my glasses from him. Eagerly awaiting how it will change my outlook on things. He is not a young and upcoming optometrist so he did not recommend a tint, but they are smartlife glasses.

@thespectaclefactory Thanks for the video! I currently had a pair for Cazal 9071/003 (full gold) stolen and bought the frame again and put transition gold mirror in them. Looks insane! But I do not like how they never become 100% clear + plenty of reflections if there is no sunshine. So these are my Sunglasses. I have some clear ones but I want your ideas for my new "project". I just ordered the brand new Cazal 6033/004 today (transparent + gold). I want them as my new daily and just clear would be boring... and I struggled indoors with my fading blue tinted 9071. I do not remember the exact percentage, but you could see that they have some blue instantly, 20% or sth.. What do you think fits perfect for my new 6033/004 transparent & gold Cazal glasses as a daily. Looking at your video I guess the gradient ones, as the full tint in one color is a little boring. Blue looks super badass, but it feels kind of cold... A color which would make the world look happy would be cool, but as I would chose a very low percentage it might not matter... what would you say is the max percentage of tint gradient, that feels like clear glasses but people can recognize it as tinted and it looks cooler haha THANK YOU! Great video! Watched three now in a row and will watch some more :)

What’s the best option for night driving especially against the high beams of the other cars?

Yes, with the disadvantage being they have a yellowish tint. DriveSafe is great for everyday glasses which are also good for driving at night, whereas Enroute Pro is great for dedicated driving glasses

Can you recommend a tint for driving at night( to absorb headlights glare) besides yellow
@thespectaclefactory2 жыл бұрын
Objectively, a tint is bad for night driving as it forces the pupils to open up further, increasing glare sensitivity, whilst simultaneously reducing light transmission in conditions where you need all the light you can get. I would recommend the DriveSafe lenses I reviewed recently: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4W5hZuJrrZ0jdU&lc=UgykwJZZs0OZBAlcebB4AaABAg Of course, subjectively some people prefer a tint but in every measurable way, a clear lens is better. When you add a glare filter such as DriveSafe, that is the best possible solution, at least using existing technology.
