A How To service a Citroen C1. This is replacing the Oil, Oil filter, Air Filter and Spark Plugs. This also applies to the Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo

Great video, but as mentioned before use gloves when dealing with old engine oil. Smear some fresh oil around the rubber seal of the oil filter this will stop it from seizing on next time you take it off and most importantly don't assume the new spark plugs are pre-gapped..always gap them with a feeler gauge. Finally use a funnel to fill the engine oil ! A cut off squash bottle or milk container works well. Saves getting oil everywhere.

hey mike its gazza with blue c-one personally i would replace the sparks with Denso iridium kh20 as it makes the car run smoother and a lot better on fuel but thats my opinion gaz

hi mate, id really recommend you wear gloves for this task, as oil can be harmful. its best to change the oil when engine is warm, and for the sake of a few quid, id invest in a filter removal tool. just one suggestion, clean the filter housing up, smear oil onto seal of new oil filter, and spray tins of brake fluid cleaner will clean that spilt oil over the sump off a treat (looks like u never been there after lol)

Great video! One small point though. I would try sealing up the grommet that has been taken off the firewall (14:38) . It is there to prevent water/smoke/fire ingress.

Jesus! Use gloves. If the plugs are not fouled up, keep them and purchase a decent oil filter removal tool.

I'm in UK from America, my wife is 645lbs as of August 2019. We can barely get 30 mpg with this car. The engine is really really loud having to floor it all the time. So I went with a ford fiesta. Much better.

instead of making a hole in oil filter, just use a simple SAND PAPER and unscrew it, i do this on a FJ120 and just works great!

The fact that you didn't connect the air filter box with the plastic pipe to the head of the engine is one of the worst thing you can do to your engine.all the dust and humidity of the air goes straight into your engine without passing from the air filter.

Fantastic video, thank you for taking the time to do this. I recently bought my girlfriend a Citroen C1 so this is a great tool to help me do my own service on it. Thankfully it looks nice and simple. Do you reckon it would be worth spending £30 or so on an aftermarket panel filter such as a pipercross? Or just stick with the OEM ones?

Keep the OEM air filter it's by far better than the so called "performance" filters. Which btw as a general rule of thumb are a pretty piece of sh_t. If you care for the engine keep that toyota filter. ;-)

To unscrew the engine oil filter, use the correct key, not the screwdriver. When putting the new oil filter, place the oil finger over the gasket and clean the filter support base on the motor with a rag. To tighten the filter just tighten it without exaggeration or better use a torque wrench.

Even when tighten correctly they can still seize. I’ve tried the tools in the past and found this works best for me

For the oil filter a "3 leg 2 way" oil filter removal tool would work best for your oil filter (cost approx. £5 off ebay.co.uk) and would save time and mess - thanks for the video! :-)

good video but i find what you do a bit messy.why not use a funnel to pour the new oil. and why not use an oil filter remover for the old oil filter but otherwise ok.

I find that most funnels wobble in the top of the engine so can end up causing more mess, and with the filter remover, there is not much room there and find most filter removal tools slip to easy. Simple screwdriver and hammer is great for this.

+SuperMotoGuy99 It is an awesome first car, i've had 2 and are about to buy another for my brother, if looked after they will look after you and be very reliable. I purchased a magnetic plug socket, it's great, it holds the plug securely but easily separates from the plug after you've screwed it in, not like those dodgy rubber grommet sockets that sometimes don't release.

Good morning my friend below I will list the mistakes you have made, unfortunately it is enough. 1. what you do with the oil filter, is unacceptable, a good special tool, it is not expensive, to get it. 2. Do not tighten the drain screw with a torque wrench, tightening torque for Citroën c1 is 35nm. 3. you do not clean the mounting point of the new filter. 4. Do not use a funnel when filling with new oil so that you get dirty with a large amount outside. 5. you do not measure the gap in the new spark plugs. 6. during the final tightening do not use a torque wrench, tightening torque for Citroën c1 18 nm. If you do not have a torque wrench, tighten from 3 o'clock to 6 o'clock, ok ?? 7. during the final installation of the air filter, are you sure that the rubber connection of the inlet was inserted correctly in its place ?? Also the connection of the fumes was done correctly ?? And finally 8. You do not start the engine to fill the oil filter and you do not measure again for the correct oil level. These from me, my name is George, I am in beautiful Greece and this has been my job for 35 years. Listen, observe and be careful, if you love what you do, every time you will be better. Be well ...

Simply C1 I don't mean to say that this is a bad thing, I only think it's sad that a unique brand like Daihatsu hat to leave Europe and all the others can stay. They should have kept selling the Cuore and instead get rid of either the Aygo or the 107/8 ;)

18:00 its beter to use a whole paper towel/napking(dont know the proper english word) instead of a rip bit. the little peaces might cause fibers to go into the engine bay.

Sorry but just get on wish or aliexpress and spend £3 on a filter tool... Or just get to halfrods. You made a good job of jacking it up but then turned into a hack job mate. BTW If you warm the engine up then you'll get more out.

Cabbe2004 - FYI this is a Toyota engine. This entire project is a cooperation between Peugeot/Citroen/Toyota. Made in the same factory and production line for the 3 brands. If you notice closely, you can find the same oil cap, ignition coils, air filter, etc. in other Toyotas, like the Yaris, Corola... :-)
