Having some kind of tax rate makes so much sense, they would have to rebalance a bunch of the economy stuff as it would make sense for your stations in other empires to get taxed, but still that would be really cool, give even more incentive to try and claim your own territory, and I definitely agree that being able to prohibit a factions from building in your territory should be possible, with some kind of diplomatic standing de-buff along side it, and maybe a certain reputation threshold before you can build stations in other factions space (or is this already there) without declaring war (this would need some mechanic for allowing pirate stations...). Would also be nice along with taxing other faction stations and disallowing other factions stations entirely, have the ability to limit the number of stations another faction can have in your territory, something like they can request permission to build say a refinery or a hill parts factory in your space and you can either approve or deny it manually, or set automatic limits, like ARG are allowed 2 refining type stations and 3 production stations and 0 defense stations in this sector. Doesn't mean they WILL build those but if they request to do so they get automatic approval.

You expect a cop, with his tiny S class ship to tell a giant station to move on? You can ban stations from your sector, its called using destroyers. Not that i dislike the idea but that kind of "policing" is normally done by militaries in the real world. Cops will examine freight, make sure no drugs, and all in compliance, but if some foreign power sets up a base, say in cuba... well that's when you call in the military.

Build your defence module with an Admin block in it. Then get a transported and load it with 100 mines. Go to a sector owner defence platform and offload all 100 mines to the Admin module. Teleport out of the sector and order the transporter to move away from the defence module riddled with mines. As soon as the transporter reaches 10k distance, Teleport back to it. The Admin module of the sector owner will blow up, you get 1 point off your rank but the sector is yours. If you need to blow up 2 defence platforms, use 2 transporters but line up the second one by the platform so you can do one after the other quickly. During that short period of time, AI will consider your Admin module as only authority and grant you ownership. Even if previous owner rebuilds their Admin module, AI will still think your Admin was there first and you will still retain ownership.

Ergo, there is little to be gained to take sectors for your faction, other then having to pay for plot taxes etc and not having to worry about police.

Another trick is to eliminate all administration center building only of other faction in the sector, and build yourself a station with an administration center as soon as you can. How to destroy the adversary? Simple way is to get 40 spacesuit bombs, NOT EMP. Deploy them directly on the admin center, no on other building module, of contested or not sector. Go around 3 km away and trigger all those bomb. Look the result if the sector line become white, without ownership, you're op to build your station with admin center with FREE LICENSE cost. That way, you DO NOT loose rep with the faction owner of the sector before. For sure, in Xenon sector it is a different gameplay as you describe in your video. BUT, if the sector boundaries(line) are still other than white, look for another admin center in the sector, it will need to be eliminate too.

Hello, Could you please tell if the illigal wares apply to your own ships in your sector? I was wondering if you could claim a sector and then make ore (as example) illigal so any refinery (of other factions) in the sector will have no choice but use your own miners to bring them ore. (and basically create monopol on specific wares) This would make owning the sector a nice financial bonus

Ok. I tried it, it works perfectly! Set the raw minerals as illegal, set my ship(s) to "police" the sector, and only other faction ships were scanned and policed while my miners were free to do as they pleased.

I am still quite early in the game. But i figured out that 200 laser towers block a gateway very effectivly against xenon. My plan was to wipe them out this way. So now i know what to do with an empty sector. Thx. :)

short term that plan works nice, long term it is way too expensive because you have to keep replacing towers. as soon as the xenon start sending in K and I capital ships to see what's been eating the baby xenon, you'll start losing tons of lasers. you are better off having a fleet of destroyers to wipe out the xenon. destroyers are very low cost if you grab them with boarding actions.

@@baneblackguard584 Thanks. But i figured that out already. Laser towers work great until the K arrives :) But it buys a bit time. So the local guys normally use it to build up a fleet and let them patrol in front of the gateway. Whatever. I am working now on my own fleet. I guess the better plan is to wipe out the Xenon sectors. But that may take a while until i have enough ships to do so :)

making products illegal could be an interesting war strategy if the sector is well located, you could create an embargo against an enemy, and prevent all wares they use to build ships from crossing your sector. Pretty cool.

05:18 *'Police authority'* sounds like a petty gimmick - but it appears to be functional as *a means to create 'buffer sectors' between warring factions* , beyond which any further expansion via station building becomes impossible for AI factions without the player being actually in a state of war with any of them (since no building materials are likely to pass the player's AI patrols).

I'm still bogged down in containing the 'Xenon' in a first 'playthrough'... think, sieging all stations in a sector gives me 'grey hair'... Wish I had known this two weeks ago, my mining company cleared Hats Choice of Xenon, and the Argon came in behind me building stations. NP, then I went to expand the plot of what had evolved into a Trade Station/Weigh Station for my big miners to hand off ore to my M Class fleet for transport to my refineries; the L class being so slow. Well the Argon wanted to charge me a License. Say Whaaa! Oh I was hot. Now I know what to do next time I reclaim a sector from the Xen.

A question about the claim sector, if you want to claim an unowned sector (the grey ones), I didnt understood wich building should I build, is the Defense Platform a module you can buy? Sorry if the question is too much obviuos

Welcome in space the module you need is an administrative center, it doesn't matter which one exactly. You can also take it as a starting point for building a production station or a wharf and so on. You just need a station with the AC in it and you get the sector ;) If you want to have a place where you can ask these questions, feel free to jump in the discord

L and XL ship building and maintenance modules also count for claiming a sector. look for the "fist" when building modules

By default i build an administration moduel in each sector. Then over time the sector becomes mine. No shots fired ! Other waring factions do the work for me! I just sit quitly and trade. Eventualy the sector is mine. My map is predominently green. he he.

@@rickjamesbitch7632 Not all sectors will become yours, and it takes time. I have over 20 that have turned green over to me, and i have not fired a single shot. Other factions fight each other, and there Admin gets distroyed. As my Admin is in and estblished, i get the green.

I cleaned out a Xenon system close to Zyarth, and those slithering Split took advantage of that and put up a defense station before me.. And i don't want to start killing their stations so i'm stuck with a contested sector until ARG sends a fleet there and nukes Zyarth.

I know it's a really old comment but basically there isn't any outside of you being able to choose what is illegal and what is not. It would be really nice if there was additional benefits like being able to tax stations in your territory that are built by other factions and be able to restrict the number and type of stations built in your sector by other factions.

That could happen. If you want to be safe, build another administrative module somewhere. As long as you have at least one, the sector will stay yours
