I love the terraforming aspect of this game for three reasons. First off it gives a reason to make extra factories in the systems I control, which means my systems and supply chains grow organically. Space is big and I do not want to just build stuff without reasons. And with more factories it means more food and medicine to have to produce. Secondly, for those of us that played the older games it is nice to help restore some systems to their former glory. With two of the planets you can terraform being systems taken over by xenon after x3 where they were in their full former glory is great. Lastly, some of us love the game to the point that we long ago crossed the 1000 hour mark, and this gives us lots more to do which is great. I do hope they keep content coming for those that do not play as much as I do, but it is very nice to have these kind of endgame goals for players like myself.

Yeah, I ended up stealing Grand Exchange I from the Teladi because I decided to deliberately teleport my player HQ on top of the only Administrative center they had in the sector (others were destroyed by outside forces). I had already built one of my own, so when I destroyed theirs, the sector automatically transferred to me. Course I took reputation hits from all factions because the sudden appearance of my base wiped out like 25 ships lol. It was worth it though :D.

Research own weapons, steal prototypes, tweak and adjust owned blueprints to get small buffs on damage/accuracy/etc against other manufacturers vanilla weapons, have a small chance of actually making debuffs to your research if you have unskilled personnel working on your blueprints.. Yeah, I like research in games :D

felt my hair go grey just looking at everything that's needed for a Terraforming mission....lol. I guess your restricted by the missions? I guess you can't Terraform any old planet? Was thinking it might be possible to terraform the planet in Tharka's-something-something in order to keep the half-destroyed planet from damaging my ships if I'm in the sector.

Did you all Build such micro stations? My Player HQ can Build every Ship so every Modul that is required to Build ships multiple Times, and i Build over 70 L storage, and that was bevor terraforming comes, over the last Week i Build 100 L Storage more, the Station gets delivered by over 50 L Size and about 30 M Size Min er + 20 Trader Ships.. I Build only such all in One Stations, Because you get sooo much Money out of them if you Start to sell ships.. And protecting one big Station is verry easy in compare to many little stations.. So how do you guys Build? Oh and Keep in going, ist always nice to Watch you Play.. X 4 is such a great Game!! ..

Hundreds of Millions, So I'm guessing this is more of an endgame Quest? Assuming Hat. is not a smoking ruin my last playthrough a year or so ago, Hat was just burned to the ground. The Xen were finally pushed back after Argon wharf was destroyed. And that required a mod that allowed me to attack their stations while under construction, but can't feel bad about that the Vanilla set up where the Xen Space Stations are immune to attack till its build is bad and suicidal.

You have to increase mars mass before you can terraform it. Mars mass cannot hold an atmosphere conducive for complex life.

Captain Collins, I started a Custom Game (Still Learning). Ok I have a few mods installed. Ok Issue I have while setting up the Game. My Research Tab is disabled. It says I must HQ with Bosota or with Bosota and Dal Busta to unlock research. Ok This must be because of a Mod I have. Do you know any thing about this?

I keep getting told my station does not have enough resources to start a project in spite of having enough, is there something I am missing that my station should have ready? Even with the correct amount of ice and my S/M Ship Fabrication Bay I get stuck on "Station does not have enough resources"

@@Therightstuff998 Hmmm... I have been playing a little more than 2 weeks (no mods) and my net worth is 5,5 billion (3,5 billion in stations, 1 billion in cash). I can easily produce multiple asgards or Raptors per hour (with terran shields) in my shipyards. I am producing all materials that exist in the game. Or use all of my cash and get like 20 more asgards/raptors to start with. Why am I saying that? Not to brag. For now the xenon and Kha'ag have be a non-issue. My large miners and barbarossas as freighters are bascially immune to all their little small and medium ships. Two of the sectors that occasionally had a single xenon destroyer invade I blocked with defence platforms with 64 plasma turrets each. (: They rip everything apart that comes through the gate. I did that because otherwise a random destroyer would come through and kill of 1-2 of my large traders/miners every couple hours, which would throw off my station-design. I think I have lost around 8 large ships in my playthrough because of that (of my current 100ish) The most I have ever seen was like 3 Xenon destroyers at once (I+2*K). Those can easily be blobbed by the 30ish destroyers I have accomulated over the game. Mostly its just one puny K though, sometimes a single I with one K as backup. So for now I don't actually know why I would need miltary ships. All other NPC-factions are around 20-30 towards me (scale plate buggy by design). I feel like I could blobb every sector already and remove all stations with with 1 asgard and 1 raptor + some destroyers. Militarily there is really nothing challenging going on. My current goal is to finish the story missions and get production up to mass produce fleets of asgards/raptors and just blobb everything. I want to have a couple hundred of each (: But for now this is all just for the fun and giggles. There is nothing going on that I couldn't handle with like 3-5 destroyers. Militarily really nothing is challenging. What annoys me is the impossible Scale Plate standing and not beeing able to get any of the Erlking turrets. I even looked up the position in the safefile. One Data Vault is empty and the other one doesn't exist at the specified spot.... Still got the steam achivement.... I specifically want to keep the Xenon around, otherwise I cannot do anything besided killing of my trading parters. Also Xenon are the main military content. Without Xenon all the anti-Xenon missions would also disappear, making for a sader experience. Is my walkthrough special? Are the Xenon more dangerous in your campaigns? It feels like I barely have to even try to contain them. I destroyed 2 stations because I wanted to get through for a lockbox. Avoiding their fighters while doing the lockbox seemed more bothersome (: Besides that I left them alone, scared that the humanoid NPCs wipe them out if I am not carefull. I am touching the Xenon with gloves to not eradicate them by accident (:

Ah one thing to add: This is my first playthrough. I was learning the game as I started (how to move ships you are not in, using mining-commands and stuff). The game did not guide me towards the Boron at all. I already was close to produce my first barbarossa in my own shipyard with only my own resources when I got annoyed that I couldn't teleport and couldn't do the protectron mission, because "I knew no scientist". I was already more than 1 week into the game. I finally started to spend like 3 hours scanning stations everywhere. I was about to give up when I finally found the god damn scientist-signal.... I scanned like 50+ stations.... I googled the sectors and factions and everything.... 3 hours of mindnumbing scanning.... Then I got the scientist missions and HOLY MOTHER EFFING SHISSLE this opened up like 60% of all story content.... I was bascially playing farmville before.... They should really guide us MUCH MORE towards the Boron if they make 60%+ of all missions require the HQ.... And not only have the signal on every 50th station... If I ever play annother walkthrough I will make sure to get the scientist right away..... Is that maybe why my Xenon forces break if I even look at them with enough focus? (:

​@@CaptainCollins Well there is actually NOT (unless you get some secret messages from Egosoft). It was in one of the developer streams where they mentioned how they experimented with dynamic shader modifications and that gave them the idea to recolor/retexture planets and implement that via "terraforming" missions. So yeah in fact it IS just that! Maybe (just MAYBE) they'll add more to this in future patches but this is pure speculation.

I just want to throw this out there... Selling 3 million ice will triple that amount, in credits, selling at the cheapest possible price. So unless the prizes are worth 27 million+(because ice is not the only resource you need in vast quantities) credits this is nothing more than a useless resource sink. The rewards better be fully equipped and crewed destroyers and/or carriers or I will just ignore this feature entirely. And rightfully so. From what I have seen in this video I am *_NOT_* impressed with terraforming. Going off of just what was shown in this video alone, terraforming is looking like a feature nobody will use unless they are just bored. Like the missions that have you attack an ally ship for money... Yeah, who does that? Exactly, nobody. You go through all that trouble to get on good terms with a faction, so that you can get the station module unlocks, then turn around and put all that effort into the trash by attacking one ship, and for not even enough money to warrant such a loss? Pointless waste.
