Very helpful, thanks! I'm cleaning up a long neglected and completely clogged up Predator carb. Jet and damper took some scrubbing. Then found the intake to the fuel shutoff valve was filled with some hard waxy substance that was hard to access past the elbow, and I was about to give up but had an inspiration to use boiling water to clear it. I poured boiling water over the intake tube to preheat it, then used a syringe to force boiling water through the passage. Took some pretty high pressure but broke through in about 15 seconds. Now thanks to this video I'll address the float valve and idle ports, make sure gas is getting in, and hope it works after reassembly. If it does, my real work begins, chipping a wood lot full of accumulated slash.

@Stacey Garringer you are aware there are multiple other reasons a generator can not be running right? Maybe try educating yourself Stacey before you make comments on others. Maybe look up what a “spark plug” and “choke” are too while you’re at it, if you can handle it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Total NOOB here ... while cleaning out the HF Chipper, I accidently overturned it and the oil overflowed & got everywhere. After cleaning & replacing air filter and spark plugs and lubing the ignition chamber, I still couldn't get the motor started for 2 weekends. Luckily I came across this awesome tutorial and now have the motor running. Lots of smoke though, burning up the oil no doubt. Hopefully I will get the branches chipped up and clean up the yard this weekend!

Had to clean up mine after a year in the shed too. Mine has a fuel cut-off solenoid attached to the bottom that sticks a pin through the bolt that holds on the bottom of the carburetor. I think some goop built up in there over winter and was causing the pin to stick. Cleaned it up, put it back together and it ran like new. Really glad I didn't find this out when I actually needed it!

Very informative video, hope it gets plenty of views (and new subscribers for you) especially as there are so many people who junk something or buy a new carburettor when a 15-30 min clean will often do the job.

Thanks for the easy to follow video! I just fixed my Generac Pressure Washer's pump head (ruined check valves due to leaving water in it) just to find out that it would run about 3 mins & quit. If I let it rest for 2 minutes it would run again for 3 mins & quit again. I've got mine apart and cleaned thoroughly, but still need to put it back together yet (ran out of free time). I'm confident it'll run good now! If there are still issues, I'd just purchase a replacement carb for $13 and not even mess with a "rebuild". The one thing missing in your video is simply having people check & clean the air filter while they're doing this.

99% of the time the air filter is fine unless there are rodents involved, or used in a lawn mower..

@@1beastlydudefixbreakrepeat Turns out my issue was the fuel petcock valve. The rubber gasket inside had deteriorated (from carb cleaner?) to the point where it clogged the fuel pathway. I didn't need any parts, simply rotated the gasket 180 degrees after picking off the dangly pieces.

Thanks man. Just installed a prand new predator 212 ran it for 15 mins and realized I had put too much oil. Shut it off drained some oil out and now it won’t start at all. Tried new spark plug, cleaning carburetor, every trick I can find. But nothing. If it helps I think I ran it 15 mins on full choke. What do you suggest? Thanks

Predator 2000 inverter Genny doesn't run same load as before. Fluctuating power even on smaller load. Will lose power (overload) when original load is hooked up. Forced to do maintenance myself since no one around here offers the service, any advice would be great! Edit: I've changed oil regularly, cleaned air filter regularly and spark arrestor had stayed clean also. Basic maintenance really, it needs more work obviously.

My Predator 3500 generator is fairly new, as far as run time. It’s only been used under load for 2 hours. The rest of the hours are 1 hour run times each month to keep it exercised. This last run it started easy but ran real rough. I switched out the spark plug right when I bought it to a BPR7EZ 5534 Spark Plug. I pulled the spark plug out to see why it’s running rough and it look pretty black, so I install a new spark plug, ran better but not as good as it did before. I also drained out all the fuel to see if there was any dirt in the fuel or tank, both were spotless. I run Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline and removed all the water. Could it be the carburetor and is there an additive that will clean the carb without tearing it down? I need your expertise. Thanks
@1beastlydudefixbreakrepeat3 жыл бұрын
Not really any additives that will clean it without disassembly. Carbs are cheap on ebay. Search for one for a 6.5hp honda gx160..should be about 18 bucks Check your air filter, then at least pop the bottom of the carb bowl off. Check for debris. If you see molasses you can dissolve it with your everyday carb clean spray. If you see chalk or rust new carb. Hope this helps!

I had to take my carburetor off to place it on my mini bike, and a lil rubber ring fell off and I believed it was nothing. I placed it back together and now when i take it off the choke, it max revs. Can you help me fix this problem and I believe it is the rubber ring that fell out that is the problem. Where does it go?
@1beastlydudefixbreakrepeat4 жыл бұрын
The rubber ring is a gasket, it goes between the carburetor and engine. It needs a seal to operate properly

I've got the heinsin 6.5hp is identical to this motor in every way but instead of two carbonator gaskets I have 3 and I'm so confused on that. Can't find any info on the web about 3 gaskets either. Would you know by chance how those 3 go on? I assume either the airbox side of the carb or the back side has two gaskets maybe? Just not sure as to why that would be though. Mine is the baja heat bike.
@1beastlydudefixbreakrepeat5 жыл бұрын
I'd imagine one on the airbox and two between the carb and head...they probably use two for heat insulation

Make sure you have spark. Try spraying carb cleaner directly into the intake and see it will run off that. If it runs off the spray, check the carb again..may not be sealing well on the gasket.

Because KZbin won’t pay you for your stuff........... Not a good way to start a channel, ragging on KZbin. You know the requirements for paid monetization, keep making good videos and you’ll get there. This video has 675 views... That’s almost 2 pennies... If only you got your 2 pennies you’d be good. Every camera and lense combinations has a minimum focusing distance... It drives me nuts when people hold there hand or face so close to their camera and tell it to focus. Haha Learn how your camera works if you’re going to make videos often.
