New subscriber here and have been volunteering at local cemeteries cleaning and preserving headstones for over 30 years now. Just wanted to say I love your videos and you do great work. I wish my videos were half as good as yours! I'm learning more everyday lol. Keep up the great work

Suggestions: recommend some alternatives to D2. Rinse from the top down.

Do you not need to let it set for like ten minutes before scrubbing???
@pedropimenta8963 жыл бұрын
It's a good practice to do so, doing so will allow for more chemical reactions to happen, therefore cleaning more!
@pjposton50012 жыл бұрын
Yes, wet stone with water, wet with D2, allow to work for 10 to 15 min but not dry, scrub with soft/med nylon brush, rinse well with fresh water.

This is a very cool video - well done and thanks!

I also wish you'd noted that you should let the D2 set for a few minutes after spraying it, but I give a thumbs up anyway.

I think she did, she just cut the camera off during that time

Looks like the cemetery could use some cleaning and landscaping big time.

Can I just go clean markers without permission, or are there people who do this with pay 🤔
@Zurtron2 жыл бұрын
General speaking if you see a headstone of someone who died within 50 or so years, it is recommended to get permission. But a stone that is more than 50 years old it is usually fine to clean. And yes, you can get paid to do this, people who have large family plots will pay for upkeep on the stones.

Always get permission from the cemetery before cleaning anything that is not your families or you have permission from the family.

You are leaving out some very crucial steps on instruction which is very bad. If you do not have permission to touch a stone from the family LEAVE IT ALONE. There are so many issues with this vid it's unreal. If you don't know what you are doing more damage can be done than good. Such as a hot stone in the sun using cold water...can easily break it causing perm damage. Be more responsible than this with your vid's or don't put them out there.
@duecepie20563 жыл бұрын
@USA ASMR You are not the sharpest tool in the shed. If you do not have the families permission then leave them alone, that is the respectful thing to do. Everyone knows this. Cept your types
@JoJoGunn19563 жыл бұрын
@@duecepie2056 She used what the Federal Government of The United States uses for stones in Arlington, etc. That said, please be specific and give examples of "so many issues". And by the way, Genius™, we notice you've avoided the question of how many hot headstones are damaged by rain.
@joeyroyer31953 жыл бұрын
@@duecepie2056 That's for headstones that predate WWII, isn't it? You also can't assume everyone has immediate family. And contacting distant family to clean a headstone is followed up by carelessness, more often than not. For recent headstones, yes: ALWAYS refer to the owner of the stone
@solvegia3 жыл бұрын
Always ask for permission. As far as I know, in some cases at the jewish cemetery a grave and the soil around must not be moved or altered, so - no cleaning, no repair, no cutting the plants.
@jeremyking39862 жыл бұрын
So how do you get permission from a family member for someone that died in 1836? I would Think anyone would appreciate their grave being cleaned 150 years later.
@ronridenour52853 жыл бұрын
Did you get permission to clean the headstone? Proper etiquette dictates that you do so and you might want to mention that in your so called training video. Also, when using D2 to clean a head stone, you will have better luck wetting the headstone down with D2 and letting it sit for 10 minutes to start working. You can't rush doing this. Cleaning a head stone is not some kind of art class project. Respect and care are key when doing this and have the proper equipment is key. Do you have smaller brushes for lettering? Do you relead the letters or do you just clean the stone and walk off with a self sense of gratification. Sounds like you need to mention more things in your videos and PERMISSION is number 1...
@Talby673 жыл бұрын
Totally agree..
