Hi Erik, good tutorial on cleaning and servicing a Lima, the motor really was greasy but it looked in good condition after de-greasing- It runs a lot better now so job well done. Cheers, Paul.🪛🧫👍👍🙏

Super, very useful tutorial! I already lost such springs from a ring motor of Lima, so this would help for the next servicings... Nice evening there, thank you! /Chris :)

Always great to see, how such motors can be revived after a cure. Furthermore it is quite astounishing, how dirty tracks and layout get after some time (or how much dirt and grease can be found in and given by model trains). Great work done, Erik. All the best Valentin

Эрик привет из Сибири. Это у тебя полное Т.О.(техническое обслуживание ). Полная разборка,смазка, промывка. Я так ещё ни один локомотив не разбирал, до винтика. Если я так разберу боюсь лишние запчасти будут...

I follow the same procedure, with some variations. I use lighter fluid for general cleaning and after that I use contact cleaner. I use technical petroleum jelly on the gears and electrical pickups, it keeps things running smoothly and silently as well as improving electrical conductivity. I also lubricate the rotor bearings with a mix of technical petroleum jelly and sewing machine oil.

I always use brake disc cleaner spray,without loosening anything.it penetrates everywhere and evaporates instantly.it works great.

Good explanation! Glad to see we are following the same method and I've not been missing bits out. I'm sure youve explained before in another video, but what are the small weights you are adding? Are they from tyres? Thanks for posting
@railway187

Yes, the small weights are for balancing car tires. I buy them relatively cheap only. They are easy to apply. Thanks for watching 🙏👍

Hello Erik, Like you, I am also a fan of Lima models for their ease of servicing - I have several nice British train models from Lima. Do you know of a spare parts supplier in the EU for things like traction tyres? I need to replace some Lima parts, but can only find parts suppliers in the UK and import charges make that very expensive. Best Regards, Ben

Hello Ben, I have used Piko traction tyres, they fit more or less. I use Märklin oil. I didn't buy other spare parts yet, I usually buy extra Lima rolling stock in a bad state from which I can get spare parts to get my better rolling stock working better. I would however change more motor brushes if I could get them easier. Greetings 🙋‍♂️ Erik
