Hi Erik, the Presflo wagon is coming along nicely, good job on the couplers now you have Nem connectors you can swap the couplomgs easily. Blue Circle Cement used Yellow on their earlier Presflo wagons then changed to grey. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

Double decker intercity
@railway187
@railway187 7 күн бұрын
@@raymondleggs5508 Yes, these are popular around here. But honestly: none of these modern trains can offer the comfort of the old trains. I remember the old Intercity Ostend - Kõlln. Second class felt like first class, with lots of leg room, soft seats, enough space for luggage, enough and good lavatories, ... pure luxury. Seats are now harder, less leg room, far less lavatories, all very basic really.

I must admit I used a rather cruder method of ballasting.I drew the outline of the track with a pencil,then lifted the track.I then painted the outline with matt grey paint.I sprinkled the ballast on the wet paint,and spread it with a brush. When dry,I nailed the track down I also used more than one shade,which provided the the contrast.Not exactly exhibition standard,but you can see from my videos:It had the desired effect.

If the hot water method doesn't work, you could cement some styrene reinforcement strips to the chassis members. The model itself is nice and the wheels are very good quality. I do understand having a break on your layout work, I'm beginning to get really fed up with building renovation.

Maybe try dropping the frames in hot water until they soften and then lay them with a heavy object on

Hi Erik, I believe these Dapol Presflo wagons were origionally made by Airfix. The plastic used was very brittle and distorted which I found when repairing one of mine. It looks like your method of construction will work very well. I would suggest putting some weight inside as these wagons are very light and derail easily. Looking forward to seeing your next build video. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

Looks good. I went with a roll of ballast mat as i also wanted something quick and easy to lay and allow track to be lifted. The ballast is not as fine as sandpaper which in my opinion gives it a slight edge in the visual stakes.

@railway187 10 күн бұрын
@@ProfPtarmigan True. I have tried Faller ballast mat, but the pebbles were very loose and constantly faling off 😮‍💨 Which brand of ballast mat did you use?
@ProfPtarmigan
@ProfPtarmigan 8 күн бұрын
@railway187 I use Heki S50102 Ballast Grey Mat 75x100cm which I purchased over 20 years ago. When I went looking for a replacement last year the number had changed to Heki 30981 but was identical when it arrived. It comes on a roll - you do need to open it out, shake it, and give it a very light brush with a 1" paintbrush to remove any bits that fell off in storage or during transport. It can fade slightly over time (20 years of time) if the layout is in direct sunlight but a gentle stipple with grey acrylic folowed by a dry brush stipple with white will restore it to look identical with the new one. Once laid it seems quite stable but you can knock bits off if you drop things on it. Of course, sanding paper will be more robust so I can see why you use it - I was thinking if using some for tarmac.
