I've read that some folks use 1/3 vinegar to 2/3 water mixture, boiled, to obtain a brilliant shine.
@wokwithtak Жыл бұрын
Yes, I used that as well when I wanted to give the wok a really good cleaning. Otherwise, I am normally able to clean the wok with my palmyra wok brush and the Scotch Brite heavy duty scrub sponge. I always have two sponges, one old one and one new one. I start out with the old one and use the fresh one for anything that is hard to clean.

To clean any stainless steel cookware, no matter how badly stained, "Barkeeper's Friend" is amazing. Get it in the powder form. Will get it looking like new.

Hello Tak, I cooked my first dish in my new 14” CUISINART stainless Wok and followed on of your recipes for fried rice with broccoli, mushrooms & shrimp. It was delicious but my wok ended up having a lot of burnt oil on the sides. I cleaned it with Barkeepers Friend and a lot of scrubbing. I didn’t think I had the temperature too high because it never produced as much steam as yours did in the video. What did I do wrong?

I notice you spot season the bottom of the wok,what about the sides of the wok if using a larger portion of food that come in contact with the sides
@wokwithtak3 жыл бұрын
It turns out it is not necessary to season the side of the wok, because the temperature of the side is lower and food does not stay there for any length of time for them to be burned. However, you are right in the case when your wok is very full, then there is a small likelihood that food might get burned on the side of the wok. Thank you for your comments!

Does stainless steel rust? If so like carbon steel after drying it we put a thin coating of oil to ward off rust, is the same method done to SS woks?
@wokwithtak3 жыл бұрын
Stainless steel wok does not rust, and you don't have to worry about coating it with oil when you put them in long term storage. This is one of the reason that I like SS woks. Thank you for your comments!

what i do is: when burnt: immediately while still hot put dish soap on it everywhere: it starts boiling & burn comes off with a soft sponge even! I only don’t know if that is damaging tog the stainless steel! Invention?

I was under the impression that immediately putting hot pans under a tap like that in the sink would be bad for them, are you waiting for the pan to cool a bit beforehand? Or making sure the tap water is very hot? Or does it not matter so much with stainless steel and carbon steel woks? Thanks for all the videos Tak, you've been a great help learning the ins and outs of woks!

My mom used to do this with virtually every kind of heavy-duty cookware she had-but I do worry a little with stainless steel. I use really hot water-sometimes boiling. I haven’t noticed any warping.

Good ideas.Will try them. However, just worry that by scrubbing with a hard brush, the surface of the stainless steel wok will be damaged.
