In this video, I TRY to clean my oven with baking soda and vinegar or bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. This is a homemade oven cleaner or natural oven cleaner. Full disclosure my oven hasn't been cleaned in over a year, so expect a very dirty, grimy oven. Has the baking soda and vinegar worked to clean my oven? Do you call it an oven or a stove?

Nice work, thanks for sharing. It definitely works, I use them to clean my oven too. No more nasty chemical. I normally use more baking soda plus water only to soak the oven, a bit runny paste, does need the water to react with the dirt, kind of eating up those nasty thing, give the surface a real good and thick coating, then vinegar to clean. I also find a warm oven does help. Cleaning is an art, we just have to try until the right mix works, also it depends on the amount of burnt in the oven! Happy cleaning people! A clean oven is good for health!

Have you ever had a repairman out to fix your oven? I learned to remove the door to do this dirty clean up. Open the door about six inches. It hits a stop and all you have to do is lift it off the pins attached to springs that close it. If you knock the pins against the stove, it takes some effort to pull them out far enough to get the door dropped into place. It gives you easy access to the interior. I suggest using a razor scraper very gently on the glass to remove anything softened by the cleaning solution. I have a flat top electric stove and cleaning kits for it include a widgit type razor scraper.

HI there I recently inherited a dirty oven like yours and unfortunately I had to also resort to Chemicals that had very strong fumes, but it did remove the dirty built up grime. I also had to go over it twice so I feel when it is really baked on you have to use a stronger more industrial product. Thanks for making such a real video on this subject much appreciated.

I read comment and some were not so nice! Not everybody can clean their oven so it's sparkling all the time! If you're single Mom or a Mom with lots of kids and a job or like me, with illness and so many other issues that I just don't have energy to clean the oven after my teenagers who don't clean the oven after use! There can be various reasons to why the oven get dirty! If you have a better hack and don't think the uploader hack does'nt work there's so many ways to write it! But instead I read "it does'nt work so well" "I never let my oven get that dirty"! Some hacks works better on other kinds of ovnens so why not just appreciate that there's a lady who take time out to tell us how to easier clean our ovnens when it's dirty? Is it really necessary to write it does'nt work? For I tried it and it worked and I don't have psysical energy to scrub so I am glad for the hack, I just let the mixture sit for a day and the diet came right off 👍 I do also see those who just write other ways to clean the oven & I think it's cool to help each other, but it saddens me to read the not so nice comments! There are different ways to write that it's not so great as you might have hope for! Don't take my reply personally as we are all different, it's just a reminder for us all to appreciate what others does for us to make our lives easier and to remember that not all have same time/energy to have the oven a certain way. I always think it's cool when ppl reply with other hacks too, but get sad to read the less nice ones, but I don't think it was meant to be mean. This is only a nice reminder to be nice to each other. Hard working women outta stick together, right 😉 Thanks for great video and some other Hacks I read below. Xoxo Mm 😊✌️

I helped my sister clean her over door glass. The oven was warm from use, not hot. After opening the door, I sprayed it with white vinegar then sprinkled baking soda. Then, I gently spread over all the glass and waited for 20 minutes. Most gunk came off with very light scrubbing using soft side of sponge. Only a little needed more scrubbing. In the end, the glass sparkled. I suggest turning oven on to 250 degrees for a half hour, then let it cool enough for you to reach in comfortably.

I know this is an old video, but I've just been at it with vinegar and bicarb myself on my own oven. Something I found is that dishsoap actually is really ineffective, in a way it almost protects the grime from being removed using the bicarb and vinegar method. I also found it's not as easy as most of the videos on youtube make out, you really do need to get a good amount of elbow grease in there, and the use of a (plastic) scraper is paramount (personally I used the lid of a takeaway container (not the sharpe side). After about an hour of scrubbing I got my door clean, but still have the rest of the oven to go. Not saying you failed, but if you do try this again I'd suggest making like a paste with bicarb and water, spreadying it (as even as you can), and leaving it for 30mins before applying vinegar.

Pro tip...vinegar and baking soda are good cleansers on their own. Mix em together and they will neutralize because one is acid and the other a base. The reaction you speak of is just water and a type of salt, and the bubbles are just carbon dioxide. Better yet, use an oven cleaner and save your time. All the brown crap would be gone too.

just go buy a cheap hand held steamer they can be found for $20 and I've even seen them as cheap as 15 dollars - and steam clean it, none of this soaking over night, no chemicals at all, no nasty smells ( A lot of people can't stand the smell of vinegar I love it personally), and less mess! and less time consuming!! I bought mine at Aldi's Grocery store but I know they're at Walmart, Kmart, and online as well. and you can use it on everything else too - kitchen sink faucets, bathroom sinks, tubs, toilets, I also use mine to clean my refrigerator and freezer, grout in tile floors, and so much more it also sanitizes! I started using one about 10 years ago when I started Raising birds and can not use chemicals to clean with (and yes I used it to clean the bird cages to (no the birds can't be in the cage while doing it)

Use water instead of vinegar. All you get when mixing the baking soda and vinegar is salty water. Vinegar contains Acetic acid which is neutralized by the baking soda. The bubbles are simply carbon dioxide being released in the reaction.

Leave it overnight. Good advice. Also good to see an honest presentation that yes, baking powder and vinegar work, but there is a little elbow grease involved. Also, if you cook food onto a saucepan, rinse it out with water then drop washing powder on it, swirl it around so it is coated, and leave overnight. Rinses off. Basically, you are destroying the links in the fat, so it can float off instead of sticking.

hello world Baking soda is alkaline . And lemon and vinegar are acid. Can’t see mixing acid and alkaline for any reason. Go one way or the other.

My oven is 100 times bad than this. I am struggling to really get rid of the grime at the bottom. I will try this tomorrow. Thank you x

Try making a small ball of aluminum and scrub again with paste. Should help.

Much easier to: 1. Turn on oven on high. 2. put pan of water with some vinegar in oven. 3. Leave for about 30mins. 4. Turn off oven. Let cool. 5. Wipe out gunk. Perfect!

I believe you can use the finest grit steel wool (0000) on the inner part of the glass door. :) I have great results that way.... Good work!

well Karen my oven is as bad as yours! I haven't cleaned it in at least 2 years but I also love cooking so many things in my roaster on my back porch so it doesn't heat up the house. but I just might try it but with water and see how it goes

+Heather Yohe yes try making the paste with water first and then use the vinegar once the paste has been on overnight. A stronger scrubber pad may help also. I'll be doing mine again at the weekend.

If you want better results: - Open the oven and spray the vinegar all over - Close the oven and let it run @ 100°C for 1h - All the water in the vinegar has evaporated but the acetic acid from the vinegar hasn't and was active during 1h - To neutralize the acid use a baking soda water mixture and spray it all over - Now spray water all over and wipe/brush off any dirt Facts and mixture: - The acid will evaporate @ 118°C and the water @ 100°C ( @ 0m Altitude ) - Baking soda and vinegar will neutralize each other ( 9ml Vinegar @ 8% acetic acid /gramme of baking soda)

Two added tips: 1. In most modern ovens, that bottom part of the oven comes out very easily, and 2. So does the oven door - get it out of the way to make reaching inside way easier.

Might I suggest.. Gloves and a mask (vinegar is strong). Also put newspaper or similar on the floor around cooker. This is a messy job. Good video.

I typically use water in the beginning, rather than vinegar. this way, after the mixture sets up over night, the reaction can fully occur between the baking soda and vinegar. Simple solution that worked well for me..good luck! oh, and I clean mine maybe every three months!😂
