I purchased the 30-H (with ceramic brick heat accumulator) a few months ago. I wasn’t able to bring air from below and I didn’t want to drill a 10 cm hole in my 80cm stone wall, so I had a double flue triple walled chimney installed which attaches to the air intake behind. It works wonderfully well but does look massive.

Have you ever had to repaint the inside? Specifically the top portion of the firebox - I have noticed that mine has some discoloration. Wondering if that is normal.
@dontscrewitup
@dontscrewitup 2 жыл бұрын
Mine is discolored on the inside. I’ve cleaned it from time to time but never thought about painting it. I assume the touch up paint provided by Stuv is just for the exterior. You may want to call customer service or a dealer and get their opinion.

@@dontscrewitup Good to know, thanks! Mine is reddish - seems premature for the amount of times it has been used.

SEE THE PICTURES ON MY GOOGLE REVIEW Stuv 30 Compact Problems: 1) Glass blackens very quickly (even with extremely low moisture briquettes), so you have no chance of seeing the logs through the glass, only the flames. 2) The baffle gets stuck as it relies on gravity to open, so will not overcome the friction of a bit of soot or corrosion. This means when you open the door to add logs you will get a lot of fumes/smoke in your room, which will set off your smoke detector etc. 3) The whole device has warped so the door at the bottom does not close properly (hinges are fine) and sometimes will not close at all. 4) The metal back plate at the back of the area the wood burns in has cracked.

Can you share a link to the photos? I can’t find them. What are low moisture briquettes?

When connecting the black stove pipe did you use an adapter or did you rest the telescoping pipe right on the stove?
@dontscrewitup
@dontscrewitup 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can see that small piece on the top of the stove going into the first seam. It is about 3-4” adapter to create a male end for the first chimney pipe to fit the female end over. My installer provided that piece so I’m not sure of the exact specs. I’ll see if I can locate it. It also could have been the male end of a full pipe section but we had to work down from the elbow to get that fitting first.

@@dontscrewitup THX so much. It looks like it is not screwed into the stove, but just resting on top of the stove?
@dontscrewitup
@dontscrewitup 2 жыл бұрын
I believe that is correct , it is not fastened to the stove. It just sits snugly inside a collar in the top of the stove.

Diverter question: Is your diverter basically closed with the glass door and partially open about 1/4 inch during the overnight burn? I woulda thought the overnight diverter would be fully closed. Wondering if mine was installed correctly. Thanks!
@dontscrewitup
@dontscrewitup 2 жыл бұрын
I believe the diverter is in the same position for both the glass and overnight doors, and it is more open in the screen/open door position. It should never be fully closed.

May I know the price of this nice stove
@dontscrewitup
@dontscrewitup 3 жыл бұрын
You should check with a local dealer for current pricing. I believe we paid about $3,500 USD a few years ago. And the chimney and installation is substantially more.

I have stuv 30 high, I took the deflector out for washing and now I can't put it back in. Have you ever took it off and managed to get it back in? If not, don't do it! The only way I can see as how to put it back in is take the whole thing apart, including flue, so I can access it from the top. Very inconvenient as mine has bricks installed in it too. They should totally remove that part in the manual when they suggest you to remove the deflector for washing!
@dontscrewitup
@dontscrewitup 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry I have never removed the deflector. It seems like if it came out it should go back in somehow. Perhaps call Stuv customer support or a dealer and see if they could help.
@dontscrewitup
@dontscrewitup 3 жыл бұрын
There is a wheeled lever on the front of the stove that activates the deflector based on which door you are using. Try pressing or pulling that lever and see if that helps get the deflector back in.

@@dontscrewitup Thanks for the swift reply. Believe me, I tried nearly everything by now, if I can put it back in, then the the metal rod that regulates the movement won't get back into the hole on lever... very frustrating... I contacted they support team and they sent me the manual, which I already had... Will have to take it apart at some point (I'm glad I didn't decide to clean in in the winter :P). Just beware that it could be a potential issue for you too if you decide to remove it. Thanks again!
