How to clean and reassemble toddler car seat after barf // Graco Extend2fit

If your baby or toddler has ever thrown up in your car, you know that the barf smell can linger. This is my method for cleaning the car seat to make sure you get the smell out. I also walk through how to reassemble the Graco Extend2fit car seat (very similar to other Graco car seats I've had in the past).

Very helpful. Thank you for teaching the correct way to wash your seat and explaining how to hook all the little elastics. I have always just spot cleaned the seat because it looks so intimidating to take the cover off, but my daughter is now potty training and has had a couple accidents in the seat. It needs a deep clean and I feel confident enough to wash it now without compromising the safety of the seat so thank you!

Do NOT follow her instructions. You will ruin the car seat. You can wash the cover in the E2F but you cannot hose ANY car seat down or soak the straps. This may cause the car seat to fail in an accident.

You should honestly read your manual. You CAN'T hose it down or soak the straps in water. Those straps are absolutely ruined and may fail in an accident. I'm not mom shaming or anything like that but you're sharing this information and others are going to copy you. This is not good advice.

You aren’t supposed to soak straps and you aren’t supposed to hose your car seat. You shoukd take this down, you are going against manual cleaning instructions.

The car seat is no longer safe once you water it. The manual specifically says so. This is not safe for your child or public consumption. Please consider taking it down.
