how does bluegill taste? I've heard it described as "trash fish," is it because of its small size or its flavor? Clearly you find it worth eating! Thanks for the great videos

It is one of the best tasting freshwater fish. I put it right after trout and walleye but before crappie and catfish on my list. It is wonderful... So to answer your qustion it can be a little labor intensive to clean for folks who arent very good at it. Most people like me who consume it on the regular have developed effiecent methods for cleaning them efficiently

I tossed them into the fire…. I put them in the garden during late fall through early spring but I learned the hard way that the animals that they attract are hell on the garden

Bothers me to see people fillet a panfish just take a big spoon put your thumb in the spoon part, start at the tail and scale each sid up to the gills cut the head off, pull the guts out , flour and fry it. You hold it in your hand like it's a book and you put your thumbs inside the belly and then pull it open and all the bones will separate from the meat...... just found your Channel❤🎉 If you're interested I also have a wonderful way to make a bluegill patties amazing better than salmon patties could ever be 🫡🫠 that's just a River Rats opinion😂

Well if you are a river rat then you know n that nothing compares to buffalo for those patties your talking about! And yeah I will sometimes pandress fish (BTW that’s what the method u described is called). I use it more for long ears or survival cooking because GD bluegill chips may be some extra work but they are too friggin good cooked that way. Anyway bluegill is like chicken to me. There isn’t just 1 way to prepare it. We eat it enough that I try all kinds of methods. I’ll make a video on my bluegill jerky sometime

@@mammyjhall9561 ah thank you! It’s one of my favorite places to fish. Though I have mixed feelings about the bass sticking program, only because I miss having the whole lake to myself LOL. Now there will be 10 or 15 bass boats out there on a weekend day. Either way it’s still a beautiful and special lake to me. I have plans to shoot a flathead video out there this summer.
