Just did this, on a older model and I’m here to say it works. Ran thru, half vinegar, half water, until mix was gone. Then ran thru regular water till it was gone. Also saw a tip in the comments. Good tips. I wasn’t aware of letting sit for a time and then rising. I agree half water should to added to vinegar and I replace filter as well. Vinegar works better if you use 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar. It will allow more capacity for total dissolved solvents in the water, and will carry away better. And still won't need very long soaking. The heat combined with the acid will descale very quick.

Yes. Vinegar is very efficient in grabbing minerals and dirt and you don’t need to use but one cup to get the job done. I clean houses with diluted vinegar all the time, like scummy layered showers and my diluted vinegar works every time. Mine is diluted two parts water to one part vinegar though. Some very good explanations of what to look for, and a great idea to let the vinegar sit for an hour....but my question is why use tap water instead of bottled water?
@AdriAsTheSiren3 жыл бұрын
Sue, I never use tap water because we have very hard water where I live and over time the minerals in it will kill your Keurig; I personally see no point in descaling your Keurig with the very thing that caused you to have to do such a thing in the first place! Either way, to prolong the life of your Keurig, I'd recommend using only distilled water in your Keurig. Besides, even if you don't want to use distilled water all the time, you could always just buy a gallon of it for ~$1 and use that for cleaning!
@sues56933 жыл бұрын
@@AdriAsTheSiren thanks so much, I usually use bottled water, but my husband occasionally uses tap water. we finally had to purchase a new one as our old one (10+ yrs) finally bit the bullet. I noticed in the video that they filled the reservoir with tap water while descaling it.

Use vinegar diluted to 50% strength. If you use pure vinegar it may make the machine seize up and stop working. My machine would not fill the cup with the vinegar and was acting crazy, making weird sounds- I thought I had broke the machine. But I re-set the machine and recovered, here's how: If the machine is hot turn the machine off, and unplug it for one hour. If the machine is not hot, remove the water reservoir from the machine and allow the brewer to sit unplugged for a 15 minutes without a water reservoir. Then plug the machine in and power the machine on, then replace the reservoir with just water in it. It should now work normally again. It may take more than one cycle of reset to return to full normal. Dislodged mineral scale can clog the "needle" spout that punctures the foil top on the K-cup. To clean the needle, remove the fat rubber gasket at the top of the needle, then carefully push a paper clip wire up into the needle openings, there may be white scale pieces there to clear away.

Not to mention that the tea or coffee tastes a lot better. I buy Peet’s coffee & tea which are quite expensive so the cost of water is the least of my concern. Additionally since I use bottled water, one cup of distilled vinegar is enough for descaling every three months.

It first starts to take forever… Until it completely stops dispensing any coffee at all… That’s when it’s telling you to de-scale and mine had big calcium deposits IN the tubing inside the top part of the machine which I had to blow out with an air compressor. Some can remove the top of their Keurig‘s and reach the tubes. I tried and couldn’t get the lid off but that really helps to squeeze those pliable rubbery tubes to break up often hard deposits in them. A couple of the videos show specifically how to remove your lead to get access to your tubes. One helpful and short video should show up in your search buy a channel called ranch something… I searched “Keurig K 70 stops working” and he popped up three or four down the list

I have an R.O. (Reverse Osmosis) machine under my Kitchen sink ($200), a soft water machine in the garage ($500) and a pre-filter ($50) to protect the aforementioned from the rust that our old municipal/city piping creates. I have to change the pre-filter cartridges ($4 ea.) every 2-3 months...(from white to dark brown). I'm a plumbing contractor so all this is cheap for me. The Soft water system makes all your plumbing valves, shower heads, sink sprayers, air-raters and the like last almost forever. The R.O. system produces 99.5% pure water...even removes the fluoride!...but eliminates 100% of the hardness (calcium) and bad taste from tap water....So you only taste the coffee flavors! (noticeable difference).... Not to mention "never have to descale (clean) the Keurig. My girls won't go a day without soft, pure water. The ice makers in my home are only "charcoal filtered" soft water so the fluoride remains inside.

I had the same issue and that’s when you have deposits clogging up the interior tubing at the very top of the machine which you can’t access without taking out two screws. I did a search for “Keurig K 70 stops working“ and three or four down a channel whose name starts with ranch, shows you how to remove the top and squeeze on those tubes where the deposit is really bad. It’s a great video and super helpful he’s just one of two I could find that showed how to get into the machine. That will fix your problem I’m almost positive as when you have water going back into the tank from that clear white double spouted little knob thing that’s an indication there is a clogged tube in the machine with heavy deposits
