Turn Anticlockwise but I had to get pliers to turn it

i have one myself but it is the most stupid enginering i have ever seen, i regret i left Miele for crap like this, want a tiny branch or nail is in de filter it blocks it so you cannot screw the filter of, and it is stuck, futher it is made of very wacky plastic so the grip breaks of when a bit pressure is applied.

i see now but don't understand. What is the little tube supposed to do? How does it catch anything. Mine is always empty. Why is it so very hard to get open and why so fiddly. Surely there are better designs.
