A suggestion for keeping the torch clean. I wrap a piece of Saran Wrap around the button area and tape. It lasts many uses, and when I feel like it’s gotta go, it easy to remove and out another on.

You've thought of everything. We cut the MDF yesterday and just bearing down on all these last minute wonderful hints and tips before go time. Fine tuning our MDF pieces, doweling today. As soon as the mica flakes get here that I forgot to order, we GO! So exciting! My guy doing most (all) of the work is excited too! I might use airline miles and get him to the pro class over there as a thank you bonus for all he does for us. He could have a booming business where we live!!!

I guess those of us, like me, using fragile paint brushes, tweezers, drip-tools etc. will have to continue resorting to acetone immediately when getting done. I do resin-jewelry and would not appreciate at all having to throw out any small, partly hard to come by tools. But I too sighed through this video, wondering what dude swallowed, snorted, injected, ingested or bathed in to make him sound this hyper-perky and not artificial/weird at all 😂🤣

@@babyssweetascanesyrup5693 Avoid using acetone at all cost. It opens your pores and allows any resin that is on your skin to enter and get trapped in your pores, if that happens you will increase your likelyhood of becoming allergic to all resins. It happened to me. Be safe, wear gloves and yes use isopropyl alcohol.

You can also use vegetable oil and dish soap to clean your hands of epoxy. Start with the vegetable oil, scrub, rinse with water, then do round 2 with dish soap. Gojo is awesome though, the citrus oils in it achieve the same thing!

An easy way to get fresh epoxy off your mixing paddle is stick it in a trash can above trash but below rim and run it in high speed. Centrifugal force spins it off.

Great job! I really love all the vids you guys post. I have a tip, when I'm using epoxy for boat building, I can re-use chip brushes over and over for about 10-12 days in a row. What I do is wrap the brush in a ziploc style bag and pop it in the freezer immediately after use. When i use it the next day, or two, or three... in about 5 mins at room temp it will un-stiffen and be as pliable as day one. But not sure if StoneCoat product working time and formulation will work like this. Just a thought. Keep up the great videos!

I use Tough Wipes for all of the epoxy clean ups. It's a non-toxic organic solvent that breaks down epoxies, polys and a host of horribly difficult things to clean up. I can send you some to play with, but I'm sure that you would find it's pretty nice to have something that isn't actually toxic to clean up with. And it's silicone inert, so it doesn't damage tools, seals and containers either.

Good tips. Only thing I'm unsure of right now (I've only done maybe 6 pours) is the proper ratio for a first coat. I was aiming for 2 oz. per sq. ft, but coverage seemed suspect. The last few I did weren't bad, I got a pretty even coat across the edges, etc, but I still felt like maybe I was going too thin. I had to go over the whole edge to make sure I got color on it, and it came out feeling very thin.

I love this channel! I've been watching your videos and just got all the supplies I'll need to refinish an old granite vanity top. The timing and information in this video is great! I'm going to try copper powder with a patina vein. I'm just going to follow what I've learned here. I imagine it will be awesome! If it works out exceptionally awesome, I'd like to do the bathroom and shower floor. I'm wondering how slippery the epoxy is when it's wet? I was thinking of scattering some clear silicone granules around the business area of the shower floor, but I'm concerned how they might hold up, or if they'd become a cleaning nightmare. Thoughts???

Brush Cleaning: A few months ago, I made a template, soaked the brush in Goof Off for 2 days, took it out, let sit in the cupboard and it hardened. (First try fail) 2 days ago, I sealed it in Mason jar soaking in Goof Off and yesterday it came out flexible, no colors, and most importantly no boogers, like brand new, ready to use. I finished the patio table project last night and came out nice and clean. I will reuse this brush as many times as this works so I don't have to spend that extra $10-$20 in brushes per project.
