More effective than using K&N Cabin Air Filter Cleaner or Simple Green or other spray cleaners is soaking the filter in a plastic tub or a sink filled with Dawn and hot water. The Dawn solution will reach into every nook and crevice of the filter and remove particulate matter and grease. Spray cleaners will never match this. I do think the K&N Refresher, which can be purchased separately and sprayed on both sides of the filter, is still the best way to enhance the electrostatic properties of the washed filter.

You don't say if you spray the refresher on both sides or just one side, if one side, which side?

Do i wai for the air filter refresher to totally dry before installation or install when still wet/damp with refresher?

Any tips to getting debris out of the bottom crevasse of the filter. They seem to be really lodged in there and I don’t want to damage the filter.

Try using scissors or a nail file or something like that and carefully pick out the pieces while gently unfolding the crevasses

Is the cabin air filter 'refresher' actually any different from the red engine air filter oil? I purchased a vehicle that has a K&N cabin air filter, but I have several cans of engine air filter cleaner and oil from other vehicles.

The cleaning solution for the engine and cabin filters are very different. Please make sure to use the correct cleaner to avoid damaging the filter, and never apply filter oil to cabin filters (the oil is for high-flow engine filters only). If you car has a plastic tray. There is only one way it can go in. Also the filter usually has a cut out on on side that suppose to mate with the tray.
