It says in the manual that replacing the empty magazine into the pistol returns the sear deactivation lever to normal operation mode.

On reassembly- at 3:04 you start to close the slide, but then the vid is edited showing you did not close it, you went back to that yellow sear thing you lifted to start, returning it to a position out of the way, the next shot is the slide magically closed. Any way you can clean up that part of the video and show us exactly the steps (starting at 3:00) to closing the slide? Thanks in advance.

Good video, thank you! Nice and quick. One suggestion, you might want to go slower and show every step for reassembly. Newer Shooters might struggle with the reassembly process.

I just received my M&P Shield Plus; first pistol (only other hand gun was a revolver). The process was awkward but watching the video helped. I had to stop and rewind multiple times but I know it will get easier the more I use it.

I told him the same thing w the Remington 870 shotgun cleaning. I'm glad he does it blindfolded when he has nothing else to do, but leaves the newbies hanging. Slow down and do a 6 to 7 minute video, it's still twice as short as most of them. 🤩

QUESTION- on reassembly do you have to reset the deactivation lever back to the up position or something? At 3:07 it looked like you did reset it but there was no audio while doing it. Thanks.
@Hoppesguncare3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, we would recommend checking with your firearm manufacturer. Thanks
@jonathanhenderson-trusting63243 жыл бұрын
There’s another way to do it. I never touch the deactivation lever. Lock the slide back and flip the takedown lever down. Release the slide, safety off, and point the EMPTY firearm in a safe direction and pull the trigger. The slide will release and pull right off the front.
@italianguy492 жыл бұрын
You could go over some of the reassembly problems and how to correct them . I had trouble getting the slide back on.

Hey brother, we appreciate the video on the s&w shield! Quick question, in the reassembly position of the video you used a small tool to reposition the ejection lever. On my other guns this is accomplished by reinserting the magazine. Is this practice safe with the shield?
@Solemn_Kaizoku Жыл бұрын
Two years late, but yes.
@paulhood62494 жыл бұрын
So do you really need to pull that sear deactivation lever down manually or is it okay to pull the trigger to do that? I pull the trigger and I've seen many others pull the trigger. That does work, but I'm wondering if there's some sort of issue with it. I do this in both my 9 and 45 shield guns. I know you mentioned keeping the magazine in a separate area, but I like to check the function of those as well and do some light cleaning if needed while I'm cleaning my gun. The other purpose it serves is it will push that sear deactivation lever back up when you insert the magazine to do the trigger tests as well. I know there's a thousand different ways to demonstrate cleaning your guns, but I wanted to see if there was something I was doing that may damage my gun.

Hi, I'm new to cleaning pistols but in the military, we used CLP as our cleaning & lubrication on our rifles, is CLP fine or is it a necessity to use some sort of grease or spray like in the video?
@trade07144 жыл бұрын
2:43 I'm new to this and have a different semi-auto pistol. But am sure all the cleaning basics are the same. At this point are you just wiping down the exterior of the slide? And leaving alone all that you sprayed into the action and interior of the slide? This Hoppe's Black system looks good if it really is that simple.

Good lord, not sure half a tube of “high performance” grease is enough! Guess all their other stuff is low performance by default.

Use tungsten disulfide (Ws2)! Dry powder, slipperiest thing on the planet, sheds carbon, bonds to metal by rubbing it on, doesn't attract dirt, doesn't come off, withstands 100,000 lbs. of force, eliminates wear. I run my guns dry with NO problems or signs of wear. Better than oil (oil attracts dirt) but if you are worried of what I say, Ws2 also blends well with oil and can be used together. I've been using it in my car's engine oil for 12 years and the engine is like brand new (no wear!!). Nasa uses Tungsten disulfide (Ws2) on the Mars rover. Great for guns!

Ok I went thru the steps to clean the barrel the spring and slide I then re assembled the gun and turned the take-down lever 90 deg I then racked the slide back to do the function test I pulled the trigger and nothing happened ... no click no sound no nothing. I repeated this three or four times and again pulled the trigger and nothing. I'm not liking this one bit. Any advice?

@@Hoppesguncare Thanks but I figured it out. After going thru all the steps again I realized my issue had to do with the little yellow tab, I simply pushed it with my screw driver down to the flush position, then racked the pistol one more time and pulled the trigger, and click, BAMB! That was it.

I pull the trigger in the 9 and 45 and I just asked them the question if they thought it would somehow damage the gun. I can't imagine in what way it would, but I'm not a gunsmith either. It's a PITA to pull the lever down and push back up sometimes even with a pick tool. Much easier to pull the trigger.

@kbm-zw5jd3 жыл бұрын
Way, way, WAY too much grease! And spraying down the slide isn’t necessary. Wet a rag or patch and wipe down the slide, and always keep the slide pointed muzzle down so no cleaner gets in the firing pin hole. This video sucked. Seems like they want you to over use their product so you have to buy more. I’ve been using regular Hoppes #9 for decades and don’t need any “high performance” variants.
