This was a very helpful video for Glock gun care, and gun cleaning in general. I have been around guns my entire life and you can never be too careful. The only other tip to consider is that you should not be distracted or drinking alcohol while performing gun maintenance. Get them clean and safely stored, then enjoy your libation of choice. Cheers!

Great. Learn all the laws and remember safety first. Practice pointing down at the ground, never at a person, then sweeping left or right, then lifting upwards again. Never have your finger on the trigger unless you're gonna fire, etc.

Thanks. I use Hoppe's no. 9 bore cleaner to clean not just the bore but the slide and the grip as well, using a patch and wiping everything down. I only use the lube to lube the barrel where it touches the slide, and the metal parts visible on the grip.

Thanks so much for your video. As someone new to weapons and handguns, it was incredibly useful. Just cleaned my Glock for the first time. I spent 15 minutes before watching your video trying to get the slide off. The other videos did not mention that the release on both sides have to be pulled down.

110 percent do NOT put oil in the striker channel. Clean with warm water & Q-tips untill there is no visible residue in the channel. Using Oil in that channel could cause a host of issues one being light striker hits. Glocks are designed to run with very little oil folks.

Just bought a G17 G5 as my very first gun I ever bought. Not new to firearms as I have shot multiple guns over the last 30 years, but never actually cleaned or owned one. This video helped out a lot. Cleaned it when I bought it like it is recommended and then after taking it to the range the first time too. My only thing is how do you know if you put the gun back together correctly? I am guessing if the trigger reset works that means it is back together right.

Is there such things as too much lubricant on each of the parts?
@ryannocera66904 ай бұрын
Yes. You don't want it to be dripping, just shining with lubricant. You can always wipe excess off
@Jaterac3 жыл бұрын
Decent video. I use CLP to clean everything. Them I do oil the same was. I also get a q-tip and wipe lube on any where parts then wipe with a rag. Not dry but I like a very thin coat of lube where theres any metal on metal. But yeah, most people over think cleaning. Some people take an hour. Some people don't clean at all. I clean after about 300 rounds through my Glocks, which is usually 1 or 2 range visits. Its literally this simple. Very important step is to apply lube to the barrel after cleaning. Keeps the rust out.
@idarrej19352 жыл бұрын
Only thing that im confused about is the fact that you have a cleaner on the table... but used the lubricant for everything. Is your lubricant a cleaner and lube like others on the market? I have both. but i cleaned everything with the cleaner and then used the lube after coming up with a clean cloth.

When I got my Glock 17 I took it to the range and had the armorer lubricate it first. It’s clean already but dry. The armorer said to clean it every time but that’s assuming a person shoots 200 or 300 rounds a range visit. If you shoot 100 rounds a visit then clean it every other time. But you can add a little oil on the the second visit if it’s been more than three weeks.

Do I have to pull the trigger before I remove the slides and after as well? I just remove the top and clean the barrel and pop it back on.
@andrewharvey99643 жыл бұрын
You have to pull the trigger before you can pull the slide off. 1: Drop mag. 2: Rack slide to remove chambered round. 3: Check chamber to make sure it's empty. 4: Pull the trigger. 5: Pull the slide back, but only very slightly. Hold the slide in place. 6: Pull down on both sides of the slide stop. 7: Pull the slide off the frame.

is the Glock 17 a good concealed everyday carry gun?
@karnubawax2 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, and I'm NOT an expert, the 17 is a full size Glock so maybe a little big to carry. I originally looked at a Glock 19, but went with the 17 because I was NOT using it for carry. If I was carrying I probably would have gone for the 19. Definitely visit a good gun store and get some of them in your hands. Also consider taking a beginning gun safety class. You won't be firing them, but you will get several different guns in your hand and see what feels right. The one that feels right is the right one.
