With 10 dollars you can buy 2 liters of isopropyl alcohol 99.9% and you can soak the MAF in 100 ml or so for about 15 minutes. You can also give the MAF little shakes from time to time for better results. That way, those 2 liters will last you 20 cleaning cycles not just 2.
@erikcox19474 жыл бұрын
Good point. You can also put the isopropyl alcohol in a small spray bottle and spray it if you dont want to take the time to soak the sensor.
@zumik834 жыл бұрын
@@erikcox1947 You could do that too, but it is best to let it soak, like dishes or clothes, haha.

They are not PH1 phillip head screws , Toyota usesJIS (Japanese Industrial Standard B 1012) exclusively. They have the PZ1 , PZ2 , etc. etc. They are available on Amazon or Ebay , for 10.00 or less for a cheap set.....I'm surprised you didn't know that ? But not many people do.....I clean my MAF every 3k , and spray the same CRC MAF cleaner , but I also use a fine hair artist paint brush , and gently wipe the metal sensors off with the fine brush. Road grime , oil , even pollen , etc. etc. Ive done this for years , and cleans it better than just spraying it....Then I put dielectric grease around the gasket and connection plug...I even put Marine grade heat shrink insulation at the base of the connector , where the wire cover (Flex Tubing) always separates from the end , exposing the wires at the connection. (Not bare wires) because of the heat from the engine....And I do the Coil connections with the marine grade shrink tubing. It has glue on the inside to make it water tight....Just a little info for ya....Peace.

@Peter Rudy Yeah , I've heard it from many of mechanics , and heard a lot of em say they gently clean with a fine hair detail paint brush, after soaking it with MAF CRC several times . I've been doing it for years and haven't fkd one up yet. You can sure tell that its clean with throttle response , Air/Fuel. I found that resetting the Ecu/Ecm helps it to adjust better with a blank slate. Just from my personal experience working on my Tacoma and what ever make vehicle.

A word of information. I understand that the Japanese motorcycles use JIS screws that look like Robertson or cross style. JIS or Japanese Industrial Standard are the correct fit I would expect for the Japanese Car. The advantage or the JIS over the Robertson is the torque is more effectively used on the JIS. Using Robertson on JIS may work but may be prone to stripping the head of the screw. Love your videos.

Wouldn't you want to clean the throttle body at the same time with the sensor removed?
@Zeek8006 ай бұрын
Cleaning the throttle body will often increase cold start rpm. That should return to normal cold start rpm after 2-3 hours of driving or less. Cleaning both these parts using the proper cleaning liquid for each one ( throttle body cleaner for the throttle body ) should provide a smoother idle and may even slightly increase your fuel mileage.

"JIS screws" Most of the people here on KZbin have no idea what they are; they think JIS is identical to US standards like Phillips #1 "Japanese Industry Standard: Often improperly referred to as Japanese Phillips. Commonly found in Japanese equipment, JIS looks much like a Phillips screw (and even more similar to Frearson), but is designed not to cam out and will, therefore, be damaged by a Phillips screwdriver if it is too tight. Heads are usually identifiable by a single raised dot to one side of the cross slot. Most people and companies outside of Japan have absolutely no idea what they are. With the similarity in appearance to the Frearson and the Phillips the screws are often damaged in removing and installing with the wrong tools. JIS tends not to cam out like Phillips. The JIS driver can be used on Phillips quite easily but not reciprically (sic). Drivers are not easily available in North America, try your local RC Airplane hobby shop. Most RC Helicopters use JIS screws to mount the propeller. JIS-spec cross-head screws are generally marked with a single raised dot or an “X”. JIS always fit Phillip fasteners, but because of slight design differences, Phillips drivers may not fit JIS fasteners. (unless the tip is ground down a bit)." www.motorcycle.com/ask-mo-anything/difference-between-japanese-jis-phillips.html

@@davidnull5590 Your not the only one that has some rare knowledge of parts and tools attributed to JIS , If you would of kept reading some comments you would of saw where I also talked about that not being a PH1 , but a PZ1 . I bought some PZ drivers specifically for my Old Celica GT back in the day and now use them on my pops Tundra and my Tacoma. You can tell right away that they mate way better than the PH American driver.

My 2007 FJ is throwing CEL code P0430. It seems to happen when I city drive in "D" but not if I drive in "4". I wonder if it is RPM related, as "D" never gets over 1500rpm. MAF sensor cleaner is similar to electrical contact cleaner. Another You Tube auto repair person says if you have MAF sensor cleaner, you can use it for cleaning electrical contacts. Alcohol we buy in a pharmacy dept always has some water. MAF cleaner has no water and therefore will dry faster.
