I have a Hayward filter. Uses four cartridges and is a MAJOR pain to open and then to put back together so it won't drip and leak.

If you are referring to Calcium Hypochlorite that is what I would recommend for pool shock. Sodium Dichloro is a stabilized chlorine and can cause the cyanuric acid to get too high, which can cause premature damage to the liner.

First, turn off the pump. If you open the air relief valve on the top of the filter tank, this will relieve the pressure. You can also remove the drain cap on the filter, now you should be able to loosen the band and remove. If not, get an extra hand to help if you are still having an issue. Thanks for watching.
