The bearing on the side plate/ brake side, is sealed with additional eashers on it. Dropping oil on it while still assembled will not get to bearing itself. If you remove those 3 screws, remove the brake, turn it over, you can slide out a metal keeper, pull out a fiber disk, pull out a rubber spacer, then you can get to the bearing from the back side. There will be a metal washer on top of it. After ypu give it an acetone or alcohol bath, reoil, reassemble. Done.

Thanks bro. No problem. I would also recommend getting bearings. You can get em from a company named Reel Envy. They make set for about 20 bucks. They are the same thing as those speed bearings but cheaper price tag.

Good job man. I just got a SLX DC and Im loving it so far. Im babying the shit out of it and my 13 fishing Concept A2. Both great reels. My next reel I may do the Curado k or DC.. I don't know yet. Thanks for showing me how to clean it! Cheer man!

I got the curado DC and the shimano oil smells like burnt differential oil but works good.

No I wouldn’t out of the box. They come pre oiled. Definitely after a season though.

Get some speed bearings bro. Your reel will spend good after that. Mine don’t really do that either, but I’ve seen people who put different bearings and they spin for ever.

If you did it wouldn’t hurt nothing, but it would drain out and get all over your reel. You only really need like a dab or two. The bearings aren’t that big.
