This is exactly what I'm doing as I type this comment. Although I'm using a Portuguese liquid product which is fantastic. I'm also using a slighty abrasive pad for the bars using gentle pressure and then a cloth the polish the area.

Bought to try it, you can simply polish the metal but rust stays, metal is already damaged and this doesn't help at all

Confused - your linked blog post (which has this video embedded) doesn't mention using this cleaner, it only talks about vinegar, water and aluminium foil.

He Did - its called Peek @11 secs, and i'm sure you could find an old toothbrush n flannel ...microfibre cloth
