In this video tutorial, I will show you how to easily clean SLR camera lenses using simple tools that you can buy from a local camera shop. I use the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G as an example in this video.

Thanks for the video! I was doing my cleaning mostly right, but picked up a few ideas that I hadn't thought of.

What about the actual lens on the lens mount? I've just bought a second hand lens and can see some bits of dust on it

Do you think wearing non-powdered latex or nitrile gloves would be beneficial to avoid getting any skin oils on the glass?

Just my own personal opinion but I would be careful cleaning (or rather overcleaning) the rubber gasket if you are using anything alcohol based. I know that your cloth looks dirty after wiping the gasket but this is because you are stripping the oils from within the rubber. This will dry the gasket out making it brittle, of course this is directly related to how many times it gets cleaned.

One thing to know though they are very very easily replaced as well as cheap. I've been cleaning mine like this for 10 years and still haven't had to replace any of them except on my adapters. The EF to RF adapter from some of the third parties can be a pretty flimsy and I've had to take mine apart and put them back together to fix contact points and things like that. But you are 100% correct with cleaning rubber with alcohol you can dry it out
