Where will I get the sensor cleaner kit

It would have been nice if he mentioned dirt and tiny hair particles thru the viewfinder that won't clean off no matter what. Now I know they're inside the pentaprism (Nikon D3300) as I can see them with a flashlight (torch). I believe I may have caused the situation myself by using compressed air can (tin) to blow out the interior of the camera. It looks like I'll have to send it to Nikon to get it disassembled and cleaned. Boo hoo.

1:20 Inside voice: _Nonononono_ 😁 *giggles* - Can't wait to see the rest of the video, but have to comment: I nearly always walk around with 3 lenses, and before changing (which I rarely do) I always have the cap in a convenient pocket and before changing I have my back-cover handy and have the camera pointed down (if able) - I make sure to swap quickly, and have everything handy *before* taking my lens off, which I'm sure you'll also recommend later 😉😄 E) The silica bucket is really nice! I'll have to get one of those too - And I store my gear the same way. Makes for a nice overview, I like looking at my gear too and well.. I don't have a dedicated camera bag yet 😄 I work in a supermarket, and often I find smaller bags with silica and I nearly always nick'em (We throw them out anyway) 😁 And good tip about filters. I have a set of step up/down rings and BOY can they be a pain to remove 😑

What’s the best UV filter for my Nikon D3100? Their so many to choose from and I can get the wrong size
@photogenius
@photogenius Ай бұрын
Check the filter thread size of your lens. This is typically written on the front of the lens around the glass. Tip : If you have more than one lens with different filter sizes, buy a filter to fit the larger lens as you can use adaptors to downsize.

Nice to see you recommending the silica gel packs. I haven’t seen anyone else mention this technique. I bought a bag of 100 packs online a couple of years ago and I carry them along with zip-lock plastic bags big enough for camera body and lenses. One time I had a camera die on me after shooting an event in a downpour (fortunately it was a company camera!). The camera and lenses each went into separate bags with silica packs, and within a couple weeks the camera turned on like nothing had happened. (Just remember to take the battery and cards out and leave all the doors open!)

If in Australia SunSack CLI-MATE (reusable) sold by Bunnings is excellent. Has blue indicators that turn red when saturated with water. Regenerate in Microwave or Sun or central heater vents. I recovered a foggy EF-S 24mm f2.8 pancake lens that would not autofocus by storing in a container with CLI-MATE for 2 weeks.

Thanks for sharing the cleaning tips. Have you ever used cans of compressed air for cleaning your camera gear? Dust Off is the brand that I have.
@DrTHC
@DrTHC 2 жыл бұрын
I would assume that he doesn't recommend it for a few reasons. First, shaking the can can expel the propellant into your camera or lens. Second, it is a repeat purchase, needlessly costing more money. And lastly, the force of the pressure might dislodge or damage the delicate inner workings of either camera or lens. IMHO, the compressed air is something best left to people who know how to use it safely. Of course, I'm a newbie to photography... But I've been a geek since childhood and handling compressed air is one of the first lessons newbies learn. It can screw up electronics very quickly when used incorrectly.

When I switch from outside to inside my camera got a lot of condensation on the lenses and everywhere. Any tip on how to deal with that? Put your camera in a plastic bag before you come inside - any condensation will accumulate on the outside of the bag rather than the camera, after a few minutes the temps will equalise.

1:35 You said here that dust is usually falling downwards due to gravity, but this is not true because of "Brownian Motion". Dust (and particles of smaller sizes) are very light weight and therefore these normally get tossed around due to air molecules hitting them, so I don't think keeping your camera facing up or down makes any difference (unless there are heavy particles in your environment which haven't already fallen (which I personally don't think would be the case)).

Depends on what you take photos of, really 😊 A polarizing filter could be great, but so could ND filters - If you're up for it you could get a 'filter holder' so you're able to place several filters in front of the lens and simply 'slide them in'. Some kits have various colours, and *A LOT* of ND filters in them for relatively cheap prices - Screw on filters can be pretty expensive in comparison, but they're still great. This bit is from Hoya, on their CIR-PL filter (Polarizing): _''They allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc.''_ An ND filter is like sunglasses, but for your lens, and can help out during very bright days or even when you're taking pictures of the moon. The moon is/can be 'blinding' bright without one 😊 I just like Hoya, but there are also other brands that does a great job: hoyafilter.com/catalog/ < They also have a 'special' protector filter (not an UV filter, they have those as well) which can help reflect dust apparently 🤔🤨

I recently pulled it out of its case to find tht the body of the camera is covered in a gluey substance which will come off it gently eased with a thumbnail nd is like little balls of glue or chewing gum in texture. Im an expert in lens cleaning , i will give you advice that will save you time , save you money , save you camera bag space , and save you from scratching you lens with dirty cloth , because even if you think its clean , cloth if used and stored has sand in it , and its a soft sand paper . Now to the advice . Do you know what is the most expensive optics made by man ? Its a telescope mirror , it sometimes goes to space ! Do you know how they test this Millions of dollars worth of lens ? They use a sticky tape , normal kind . It is happy to stick anything to it , and does not leave residue . You are not brushing it across your lens so you wont scratch anything even if you have sand on your glass . And it cleans human fingerprints and oil , basically things you cant blow off , like a boss . Just try it . Take a piece of sticky tape , stick it to your lens , real good ... Then peal off .. yes clean like it came from the factory . If not , well you have a lot of sticky tape left right ? So have at it . You wont damage your lens with it , not possible . Even if you have dirty hands with sand on them . Your welcome .
