Yes, please keep looking for more ways to use this product. I've been using Barkeeprrs for years and I just love it! Cleans all my pots and pans beautifully as well as stainless steel sinks, faucets and brushed steel hardware. Works well on glass coffee pots and stained glassware. It's a must in our home and quite inexpensive.👍

I use Bar Keepers Friend on my glass top stove, after being only half satisfied with special cleaners made for them.I first squeeze a small amt of water from a sponge on each burner and sprinkle the BKF over it making it all gets wet but not soggy. I turn the burners on high very quickly and then in the same order, turn them off. Point is just to warm the mixture up. Each burner is on less than 5 seconds - actually the step can be skipped if you add water and BKF while burner is still warm from cooking. Then walk away for at least 20 minutes. When you come back use a scratch less green scrubber, you may have to add a little more water and with very little elbow grease the burners will come clean! For very little money or energy, it can look almost new again.

HOW TO CLEAN A GLASS POT THAT IS VERY BURNT INSIDE AND OUT
@hrhdianednum72035 жыл бұрын
Pilates By Lisa yeah I remember those days and it had to be done just right and if it wasn’t or couldn’t afford what I needed to do it then that’s all I could think about. Now I am older and only have interest in my mind because my body says oh knock it off it’s good enough and is but that deep cleaning is no longer physically available to me so it’s good enough unless one of my daughters gets the itch!

Hi, thanks for the great vid! So I wanted to share that I usually put pots and pans into the dishwasher (with Quantum Finish pods) from time to time to remove any grease/stains/burnt bits I've missed when I handwash; this helps to lift off from the hard to clean areas; and though it sometimes leaves a tiny bit on after the dry cycle, the heat helps to dry up the residue; I may need to scrub off with a cloth and baking soda, I love this method: definitely the dishwasher makes the most difference if used every few washes.

I myself wonder what's in BKF that it works so well. And as far as your "throw away" pan, if your hubby (wife, kids, friends, whomever) like to go camping alot, spend a couple of bucks, take it to a local shop (on that has a sand blaster/bead blaster/walnut hull blaster) and have them clean it there (make sure you wash it with soap and water afterwards). That way you have a pan that if it gets scorched/bent/dented/left behind or whatever, its not like you're losing a high dollar pan.

Life Paths Try a product called Invisible Glass. It's the best I've ever found. Another thing, its seems everything that sticks to glass will come off with either a windex type product OR vinegar. Auto detailers like to use Invisible Glass then they "clay bar" the glass, then they apply a polish and/or Rainex. This makes the surface shiny and micro-pit free so that nothing sticks for a while. All coatings like Rainex or polish have to be re done from time to time. Oh and for your windshield; buy very good wipers and keep them clean.

As for your "unsave-able" pan, heavier amount of barkeepers friend with a good solid 15 minutes+ of scrubbing with steel wool would probably bring the life back in it. I've saved a pan that was completely burnt with that product. Great item all the way around.

I sometimes use a dishwasher tablet, with a little water in the base of the pan to remove burnt on stains. I'm pretty sure this will also work for the other side, if you place it in a bowl with a dishwasher tablet, and a little water. Leave overnight. Et voila, the next morning - virtually wipe clean. Again, not sure it works with all pans - but definitely saved me a telling off when I was younger when I used my mums new stainless steel pans to make popcorn in!

@hummingbirdlady118 жыл бұрын
Bar Keeper's Friend does work well. Even so...the instructions on the back of the can should be read before using. BKF contains oxalic acid which is naturally derived from certain plants. With that said it can be toxic so with frequent or prolonged use protective gloves should be worn and avoid inhaling any fumes. Some users may not notice BKF fumes but it is mentioned in the instructions and I have at times noticed some. Oxalic acid can harm one's kidneys.
@ArleneAdkinsZell5 жыл бұрын
I don't have any toxic cleaners or commercial cleaners, I will stick to the ever faithful baking soda :)
Myra- oxalates are found in plenty of foods, you even eat it. It isn’t toxic, but for people who are susceptible, can cause kidney stones. Common salt is just as ‘dangerous’. Occasional use of BFK is fine.
@hummingbirdlady114 жыл бұрын
All of that is basically what I mentioned too. So, we're on the same page. I encouraged people to read the instructions on the back of the can before using (if hadn't done that before using). Quantity and frequency as with most things, even salt, are factors in toxicity. HTH

@Floreen Smith It sounds like your dry dish towel was made of microfiber? If so, I was able to remove burnt on microfiber from my flat top electric stove by placing a paper towel on the area and wetting the paper towel with vinegar. Let it sit for awhile. It removed the microfiber like magic. Good luck.

One trick i have used is to put cola in an old baking tray and sit the pan bottom in it for 30-60 minutes depending on how badly its burnt. Gives me time to clean the rest of the dishes and the cooker Speaking of cookers, i always get spills down the side of mine as its not built in, a trick i learned was to make a paste of baking soda and vinegar and apply it using a damp cloth and then i get a spray bottle with clean warm water and spray and wipe the area it works a treat...Loving the videos :)

@tlook69005 жыл бұрын
10susan10 - you’re exactly correct- the acidic tomato eats the mess, my G’ms trick. I allow it to simmer and when I all of a sudden remember it- it is done 🙂 for the bottoms, I submerge the pan with a dirty bottom in a larger pop with anything tomato (sauce, diced, diluted paste, etc.) let it simmer until I suddenly remember 1/2 hour or so--wipe clean -- voila! Looks like new! I use barkeepers friend around the stainless sides - nice and shiny- I use a polishing glove. I’m not a ‘clean ‘ freak but like to have clean pans since morning be are all and visible! It takes very little time. And no scrubbing!!! Thanks for all your terrific ideas!!!! You’re great!

Hello. When cleaning a burnt bottom of a pan (the side of the pan that the flame burns, not the top where the food is cooked), why is it important to avoid scratching it, for example with a brillo pad or scouring sponge? Understandably, oven cleaner is a last resort. However, on a dedicated frying pan that was WAY out of warranty - as long as I kept the cleaner away from finish - it ate that old orange & burnt brown bottom-pan stains right off.
