Thanks for the info... Went to Dollar General and bought a tub of Oxy-Clean for 5 bucks... If it didn't work I could still use it when washing clothes... Mixed a small scoop in a measuring cup with about a cup and a half of water... Then got some rags and paper towels... First try... Bingo!!! Worked like magic... Went over all sticky surfaces twice... Everything looks brand new... Thanks again...

Wow! Worked in my grandmas 1993 olds cutlass! The arm rests and steering wheel were as sticky as pine tar! It would get on your hands, it was awful! I did what you said I mixed up a bucket with warm water and OxiClean, used a shop rag and wet it down real good. I let it sit a few minutes, and then I kind of scrubbed it with the rag. Then I took a dry towel and went back over it and bingo! Thank you so much for making this video it helped me tremendously! 🤘🏻

The stickiness is actually your interior oxidizing or "un-mixing". Just like steel rusts or aluminum turns white or a copper penny turns green, everything mixed will separate, oxidize, or return to it's original elements. Tires turn brown and headlights turn white or milky for the exact same reason. You are trying to remove the plasticizers that are seeping to the surface with the accelerated help of heat. Naturally as these ooze out and we clean them off, the parts will distort, shrink, and eventually crack - it is part of life. Once clean, put a good protectant on that contains UV inhibitor back on the parts. Thanks for the tip, I will try the OxiClean. I routinely clean my interior with Woolite and water because it is gentle. One tablespoon of Woolite to a gallon of warm water. Clean windows first, hard plastic and vinyl surfaces second, then seats, and finally carpet. Every time the sun shines on the car after cleaning interior with Woolite and water will leave it smelling amazing for months after.

I just did the passenger side air bag cover / panel in my Mazda Tribute. It'd gotten so bad that if you bumped it, it would smear EVERYWHERE.. dark brown onto tan accessories. I bit the bullet and gave it a shot with a heavy coat of windex, let sit 10 min then another shot then scrubbed with a stiff bristle scrub brush followed by a green scotch brand scrub pad then let dry. I repeated this about 3 or 4 times, brushed away any remnants, let dry then used a vinyl restorer. Worked GREAT! No more tacky and it even shines.

Good tip. I've also found cars who's interiors have been sprayed with gallons of ArmorAll over the years and then locked in air tight garages or trailers will develop a slime that's hard to remove. A mild grease cutting detergent and warm water removes it without harming the material. ArmorAll is great stuff used in moderation but it needs some air movement after applications. In my career as srv mgr I oversaw the dealers prep departments and had to deal with all kinds of amateur automotive mistreatment.

Sodium Carbonate is Na2CO3 and the Percarbonate is Na2CO3·1.5H2O2. The second is an even stronger oxidizer than the first - I believe Oxy clean has one as a fast acting bleaching substance and the Carbonate as a slow acting one. I believe in the US, Sodium Carbonate is known as "shank" and is used in pool cleaning. I know it's used in water treatment to make the solids either float or sink (can't remember). I have a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.1 Inches that showed a sticky substance in the back cover (synthetic leather) and I'm having a hard time removing it. I already added baby powder and now I'm checking how to remove it - and I found your video. Since the materials seem the same, I'll try Sodium Carbonate. Thanks for the video! Note: I would check with someone who knows chemistry if the Percarbonate can damage the metal parts. Rust is a oxidizing reaction.
@maxheadrom30883 жыл бұрын
Just an update: I ended up being lucky with the Baby Powder. In my case, it was the back of a Samsung Galaxy Note SM-P905. It's a synthetic finish imitating leather. A sticky substance appeared (out of the part) and I could not remove with rubbing alcohol or isopropyl. So, after seeing something about baby powder for leather, I tried it. I covered it with baby powder and let it sit for 24 hours. I was disappointed because it hadn't helped but, when I start to clean the alcohol with isopropyl alcohol, I found out it was easy to remove and left no glue residues! It seems the powder sucked some part of the sticky stuff and that made it easy to clean.

im not sure of the price point of "oxi-clean" but you may find "arm and hammer washing soda" this is sodium carbonate, its seemingly becoming harder to find locally as it was used back in our grandmas days of doing laundry before modern washing machines and detergents. if you can find it locally arm and hammer washing soda is very cheap, maybe 2 bucks for a 2lb box. you can also make sodium carbonate from baking soda by baking it spread out on a cookie sheet in your oven, i havent tried that personally. now washing soda, the arm and hammer brand of sodium carbonate, ive had very good results as an electrolyte for electrolysis rust removal. Maybe you were sponsored by oxi clean, if so i dont blame ya trying to pay the bills, but im sure the old tried and true, but likely forgotten arm and hammer brand is cheaper if its sodium carbonate youre looking for.
