You didn't read the PCED OBD manual that states: These throttle body assemblies *MUST NOT BE CLEANED* (emphasis Ford's) and have an attention decal advising not to clean. If you are going to show this, you need to cover this fact, plus the concept that people actually use throttle body cleaner and not carb cleaner. I am going to clean mine, but I will not use a brass brush. The Teflon coating can be damaged. You are irresponsible.

Thanks, you taught me a lesson, ignore torque in these videos. I didn’t read comments, just watched the video an did what was said. Broke the head off one bolt, lucky I can pain stakingly remove it by hand, but dang it put out a edit stating inch pounds for those of us who don’t always double check things. Had a manual in the garage that TOLD ME 15-22 in pounds!!! If only I’d looked in it instead

Where did you get 18 foot pounds torque for the TB screws? That's almost 3 times the recommended spec of 80 inch pounds (6-7 ft/lbs.) listed in the 2001 Ranger Ford Workshop Manual. Like the TPS screws, they're threaded into plastic and strip very easily. Other than that good video, although I prefer using a nylon brush instead of metal.

My advice is not to use a wire brush, it will remove the Teflon coating. Tooth brush is highly recommended.

My 2004 Ford Ranger 3.0 liter goes through spurts where it takes too many cranks to get it started. It always starts and then runs fine. Cleaned the mass airflow sensor which didn't help much. Hope this is the answer. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for the vid.

Is the black gum inside the intake plenum and throttle body strictly from crankcase vapors?
@elricond.l.f16709 ай бұрын
Great video thankyou for that🙏🏽. Im not sure if you have stumbled onto this problem but, i have a 99 ranger 2.5l. Cleaned the throttle body, changed the idle control valve, air charge temperature sensor, filter and now my truck accelerates when i turn it on for like 5 seconds then idles normal, then i start to drive, as im coming to a stop, i put it on neutral (its stick shift truck) to slowly stop, but it keeps sounding like the motor is accelerating for like 5 seconds as well. And as soon as i come to a complete stop, it idles normal. Its concerning to me because it didnt do that before i did all that i did to it. Thanks in advance for your time!!

Will it hurt the position sensor to submerge the whole assembly in my ultra sonic cleaner?
@1AAuto3 жыл бұрын
+Douglas Thompson Thanks for watching! We wouldn't recommend cleaning a throttle body assembly that way, it is best to use throttle body cleaner like we use in the video.

How often do you suggest cleaning this?
@fred3068015 жыл бұрын
I am doing this myself for the first time the guy at the auto parts place said to do this about ever 50k. My truck has 130k on it and this is its first time.

When you notice diminished throttle control or response, when you are debugging poor idle and/or cleaning MAF &/or IAC, do this.

Okay so I'm lazy . why can't you just stick it in the gallon container the one that looks like a paint bucket with a basket and then blow it off with your compressor provided you have one
