How to Clean Under Your Fridge (REDUCES ALLERGIES!)

When it comes to improving indoor air quality, there are four core strategies: ventilation, humidity control, filtration, and source control. In this video, we'll focus on source control. I'll tell you about one source of indoor pollution that most people aren’t aware of: the drip pan below their refrigerator. (AKA drip tray).
Dust and moisture collect in there and create the perfect environment for mold to grow. When your fridge runs, its fan blows air across the drip pan area, dispersing mold spores throughout your home, and causing health problems such as eczema, asthma, nasal allergies, bronchitis, respiratory infections, and more. This isn't just my opinion: it's backed by lots of scientific research.

OMG, I presume you're talking about the evaporation tray under the fridge. Next grossest place in the house next to the drain trap under a bathroom sink! Mold heaven under the right conditions.

Why hydrogen peroxide and not bleach?

Bleach doesn't kill mold very effectively. Instead bleach puts mold into a sort of defense mode, which causes it to produce more toxigenic compounds. Not only that, but bleach is mostly water, so it saturates materials, which is what we don't want.

You're welcome! Lysol contains some harmful compounds, including fragrances. I avoid it. Fragrance-free soap and water is usually sufficient for cleaning. I'm making a video about a cleaning protocol, so stay tuned.
