HOW TO CLEAN YOUR AREA RUG FOR UNDER $3 / EASIEST WAY TO CLEAN AN AREA RUG / RUG CLEANING / DIY/SAHM
Hey guys, can you wash a rug at the car wash? I had two rugs that needed cleaning, so instead of buying new rugs I took them to the car wash and for just under $3.00 I had clean rugs again. It was the easiest, fastest, cheapest, and most fun way to clean an area rug. THUMBS UP for more cleaning videos like this and SUBSCRIBE to keep up with all my latest videos! Thanks for watching 💛

So I figured out how to do this if you have no truck and you live in a tiny apartment. So I took it to the car wash and washed it like this lady, then I used the rapid dryer and then put it in a space bag until I got home and hung it over the balcony gate to dry out in the sun. Smells great, no mildew. I'm so beyond happy right now!!!

@@58170128 I do this as well except in the spring and in the summer. I mix carpet cleaner like bissell or even dawn soap with water in a watering can that has several holes pour the solution on the rug use a soft bristle scrubbing brush let it sit for about 20 minutes, water down the rug a bit, scrub again and then rinse. Any stains on the rug are spot treated first with soap directly on the stain

I get the comments about cleanliness of a car washes' ground/floor, but steps can be improvised to mitigate those. Besides... your nasty feet for 5 years are probably way dirtier than a carwash floor that at least gets soap on it once a day. Personally, I think using a self car wash is pretty intuitive. You get the tools necessary for the clean, and a large area with a water drain... all operated by some coins. You could potentially take a whole day to make a self service car wash your own personal rug cleaning studio and no one's going to give a sh**. If you're wondering how to get a wet rug back home with your SUV, wrap it a mattress bag, and let is dry in the driveway when you get home. Again... all still most likely cleaner than the shape it was in before... and prettier 😉

@gritskennedy5007
@gritskennedy5007 Жыл бұрын
And remember to start higher on the water soap and rinsing since the ground is angled towards the drain everything will flow towards the drain so no point in rinsing the carpet in the direction going upwards because that water will only come back towards the carpet not off or upwards.

Please don't let other people's opinions sway you away from a good idea. This is still the easiest way to clean your area rugs. If you're worried about dirt and oil on the floor of the car wash bay take a couple of minutes and use the high pressure hose to wash and rinse the ground and also the scrub brush. I've been cleaning my area rugs this way for 5 years and I've never had any issues with dirt and oil on the ground. Some car wash owners do a really good job of keeping their bay floors clean.

It works great on stains on carpets, upholstery , car interior (I've even used it on a few of my children's clothes as a stain remover).Also if you get a wet vacuum and go over the rugs after the car wash it will speed up drying time,the rugs will be fluffier and theirs less chance of having an "off" smell when they are dry.

Got a beautiful rug from my dad but it was covered in dog pee and still smelled heavily after many runs with my carpet cleaner so I did this. put a tarp down under it before washing so other peoples grime didnt get on my carpet, and I used my carpet cleaner (find a nearby outlet) to suck out the extra water so it didn’t drip in my car.

I have been using my lanai now for smaller rugs but I have to bring buckets filled with water because well, no access to a hose. I have no where for the water to drain. I have been doing this for years but I lay a tarp down. If you lay your rugs on the concrete what's the point of cleaning them at all. You aren't getting all of the dirt out like that. I also use a long handled squeegee to push the water and dirt out. Use a good cleaning solution and don't use the carwash soap. It has stuff in it that can harm your rugs.

You can't do a big rug like that for under $3.00 at a car wash. The car wash only gives you a certain length of time for that amount and it takes a long time to do all that she did in the video. It would cost at least triple that as long as it takes to wash that for that would be about 3 cycles using that brush and the sprayer with soap and the sprayer to rinse.

U first have to get out all the dust and grime out of the area rug and then vacuum. What you just caused was mud at the backing of the carpet. And spots to reappear when dry. Also all area rugs (especially wool or handmade area rugs needs special attention cause the colors can bleed.

I do this with my rugs as well! Do you have three boys? I know you choose not to show them, which is totally fine. I don't share things of my son online either.

How not to clean a rug. Contaminants that will accumulate on the bottom surface of the rug. High possibility of mildewing. Some rugs shrink and/or wrinkle when not dried quick enough

A cheap carpet cleaner will do them for $10 more hygienic then a car wash that recycle water intended to wash cars not rugs for babies to crawl on Imagine what cars have on them that are washed off there eg road kill 🤮
@lisadavid8748
@lisadavid8748 3 жыл бұрын
I agree, it is for a car not a rug. But, I must say, it's a brilliant idea though. I have a question though, how safe is it to use a carpet cleaner, isn't the products full of chemicals? You mentioned hygiene, what would be the difference, the same machine is probably used in hundreds of homes, who knows what people have in their home and what it cleaned up and you are using that same machine to clean your rugs and carpet with. It's not like the company gives you a brand new one, no, the same one is used for everybody. So if your concern is hygiene, you are better off buying a carpet cleaner and doing it yourself each time. At least you know where it's been.
