Useful and nicely presented information. I also like the carbon fiber Tortoise tripod. Maintenance of our equipment is an often neglected task. I tend to leave my equipment far too long inside my carrying bags after an excursion, but this also serves as I remember to do my due diligence after the creative work as eneded. Will also look for some bags that I can have my cleaning equipment ready, not only for tripods of course. Keep up the good work and hope to see more good advice sharing.

Excellent video Margaret, thank you. I'm just back from the Isle of Harris myself and the tripod definitely needs a good cleaning. 😊

I recently bought the Tortoise TTOR35C. Compared with my old (cheap) aluminium tripod it's a fantastic bit of kit, a joy to use.. After the first use I was in the garden with the hose! Now when shooting in sand I extend the bottom section first so the upper sections and threads are spared although sand does have a habit of getting in everywhere..

Thanks for this easy to follow video, so I'll now get on with cleaning mine after a weekend on the Suffolk coast. As a matter of interest, at 32 seconds into the video I noticed the addition to the feet to stop the tripod sinking in to the sand when the tide is washing over them. Are they simply CDs or something more specific please?

Sky was very entertaining. Do you use a lubricant (WD40), when putting it back together again.

as far as I know you have to be careful with what sort you use as it can just attract more sand. I use a special grease sometimes. I have a gitzo one.

Is this the same for benro aluminium tripods?

I wouldn't use washing up liquid because it contains salt believe it or not and salt can be corrosive to metal and carbon fibre. You're better off using a bit of shower gel or cheap shampoo. The dog made me laugh it looks as though your dog thinks you have carbon fibre bones, lol.
