thanks for the video, think I'm gonna give this a whirl as I'm in a similar situation with my F31 320d, just to check though: you just put the detergent/Cleaner in the DPF then went for a 'Spirited' drive? no forced Regen done through the OBD Reader/Bimmerlink thing? as you couldn't due an error somewhere else? Just asking as I don't have a diagnostic machine/Carly/Bimmerlink etc. But I know my issue relates to the DPF as I got it plugged in at a local garage and it pulled up codes 244800 + 244900 saying DPF is at Max. (Cars on 200K miles) Thank you again!

Hi yes followed the instructions, small bursts etc then went for a spirited drive on an open road, it’s well worth a go as it’s a lot more expensive to clean/replace it, and it dropped the pressure in mine massively. Hope it works mate👍🏻😎

Try only using super diesel. Done 33000 miles in mine only using shell/bp/esso super and it runs very clean. No smoke ever and dpf work as expected.

Hi mate agree I do prefer the super diesel car always seems to run better on it 😎👍

Thanks mate, the cleaner worked a treat, still it’s getting removed, along with the egr and swirl flaps, it needs a map, every time time I drive the misses I’m jealous 😂😂😂

I'm going to give this a whirl on my 2012 X5 35d. Pretty sure I have underlying Glow plug issues causing DPF blockage, but currently the car is in limp mode and crawls along as a result. I bought Liqui Moly cleaner and purge and am coupling it to an empty freon pressurized canister in order to spray the detergents in. What code reader/scanner are you using though?

Iv got several readers but for this video I used bimmerlink on my phone, if you’ve got a Bluetooth OBD dongle I’d highly recommend purchasing it, really easy to use, reads/clears codes (only really gives a brief description and code) reads live data on all sensors etc so you can see what the ecu is seeing, also allows you to force a regen while driving but you need to make sure all parameters are met, water temp up to 75, over 10ltrs of fuel in the tank, and obviously no glow plug issues, also you need to clear the dpf code off the car as it won’t regenerate with a dpf fault code, hope this helps, good look, mine picks up a lot better now, has more power and In 3 days my mpg has gone up by 5mpg and climbing 😎👍🏻

@@Tom-dz7of I’ve a 2012 E70 35d. All the parts, including the dongle to use binnernljnk and a pressurized bottle, finally got here the other day. Problem now is figuring out exactly where to spray the dpf cleaner and purge fluid. Also is this sprayed while the engine is warm or cold? Do you think you can send an image highlighting which sensor to remove?
@Tom-dz7of

@@stephenanderson4051 I showed it on mine in the video, you want to remove the oxygen sensor it was 22mm on mine needed a crow foot spanner, I loosened the sensor, then nipped it up, ran the engine up to temp, then turned off, removed the sensor and spayed the cleaner in as per instructions, 5 sec bursts until I’d used the whole can, then replaced sensor started and went for a slightly spirited drive for about 20-30 mins, it kicked a load of black smoke out within the first 5-10 mins, then I pulled over cleared the code and carried on, not seen the dpf code since, I can’t send pictures on KZbin, if you’re unsure of sensor/location have a quick search, hope that helps if not let me know and I’ll do my best to help 😎👍🏻

@@stephenanderson4051 just had a quick look on the internet, the sensor u need to remove is in front of the vacuum line, should be just behind where it blots onto the turbo, 😎👍🏻

Hi just stumbled upon this video and I think I need to try this. I’ve been using c220 scanner to monitor and erase codes to achieve a burn. I do like the look of your obd Bluetooth. Does this allow exhaust temperature viewing , and dpf regen status etc. and erasing of the codes on the fly ? Also one last question. I’ve been a little worried about trying this as the dpf being so close to the turbo. Does the foam backfill at all ? Because I can’t imagine it being friendly to the turbo assembly ? Cheers

Hi mate Iv got a few diagnostic tools but the bimmerlink using a Bluetooth OBD, is my quick go to, you can read erase codes, force regen etc, and yes you can set up a dashboard on your phone with any values the car reads, so customised to what your looking at, have a read it’s a good bit of kit for BMWs, if the cars not regenerating the dpf you may have something holding it off, think the main reasons are glow plug module, glow plugs, weather temp and at least half a tank of fuel then obviously above I think it’s 50mph, the stuff I used worked well, squirt in increments till the can is gone then drive, it won’t fix all but we’ll worth a try

Cheers. I’ll look at that tool. I don’t do enough long journeys, I’m on 140k and I really should be looking at other issues. I’ve solved the glow plugs and relay. Had a vacuum solenoid too. So I really only suspect maybe trace oil and short journeys. I get the pressure down to 7mbar on idle then I leave it. When I’ve had the car this long, I think I’ve gotten a little stuck in routine lol. I will try the same cleaner you have used. Good stuff

You know what I’d suggest then, check out some of the other vids on the e91, gutt the dpf, remove the egr and get it mapped, then you will never have that issue doing short journeys 🤷🏼‍♂️😂, sounds like your on the right track tho, how have you been cleaning the dpf so far?

So with my c220 plugged in I would check codes. And 480a lets me know I can get away with erasing and then look for exhaust gas temps, this usually allows me to complete a burn. If I’ve been lazy and get 481a I know I have to erase on the fly for a while until it doesn’t post the error then it will maintain the exhaust temps to regen. Obviously I can’t rely on that because 4667 will show up if I do it too much and have to chill out. The last 2 years I was ok as my son was in uni and I had the long journeys to sort it. But he’s finished so back to more short than. Long runs.

I noticed that bimmer link is the app and need a separate obd to plug in, I thought it was a obd tool and app in one. Do you recommend a Bluetooth obd to get ? I’m iPhone cheers

Hi mate it was a powatec cleaner from GSF, always worth a go as cheaper than removing and cleaning, I would look into why it’s blocked tho as it may not be regenerating especially if you do short journeys 😎👍🏻
