If you've ever tried cleaning an interior windshield, you know the meaning of frustration. Seriously. I've worked on them for 20 minutes before -- and the streaks just wouldn't go away. Not anymore. This is a method that is guaranteed to work.
You'll need a brand new magic eraser, and a set of clean, dedicated window towels.
(AND, if you're still having issues with those final streaks, try some isopropyl alcohol -- that's my sure fire way of getting anything that just won't move: bit.ly/IPAHawkPro)
My list of GO-TO interior detailing products:

@@Jeff_Seely TY... I just now dug out my isopropyl alcohol and magic erasers, to give this a try tomorrow. I have never liked magic erasers the way alot of other people do. So I figure maybe trying them on my car windows will be a good way to put them to use. Especially since I have had 2 big boxes of them under my kitchen cabinet for at least a year now. I just haven't ever found them to be that great. But I know lots of people do.. Anyway thanks for the reply back.

If used properly, they are a wonderful product, in the correct applications. They are a mild abrasive, ranging somewhere between 3000 and 5000 grit sandpaper. Test them on an inconspicuous surface first. If I want to knock down their abrasive tendency a bit, I will toss them in a bucket of soapy solution overnight or just an hour or two. Light pressure rubbing at first. You don't need to as cautious on glass, unless you are cleaning tinted windows.They are also known as melamine foam . Dollar Tree has them at the lowest cost I've ever seen. Two for a buck....

I use a simple wet/dry method on the interior of the windshield. Use gloves on your hands for a better grip. Four small microfiber cloths. Wet two of them and lightly wring them out. Go over the windshield with the first wet one. Take a dry cloth (preferably one made for glass - short pile) and go over the glass. Repeat with the second cloths. Wet, then dry. I do the same with the outside glass, only I finish it with a glass treatment, such as Rain-X. Buff the outside to a high shine. Your glass will be spotless. At mid to high speed in the rain, you won't need to use your wipers, and when you do, they'll glide across the glass. Be sure to remove the wiper blades from the armature and scrub them every few months... you'll be surprised at the amount of dirt on them. That's it!

Are you saying you don't use any cleaner? Can you really cut the off-gassed greasy stuff from the inside of the windshield without any? If so, I like the approach. Thanks.
@troydzuricsko7331
@troydzuricsko7331 4 жыл бұрын
@@SkyDawg108 Yep! You can use a cleaner if you want to, but the important thing is to never use dirty cloths on the windshield, or any other glass for that matter. Once a cloth traps dirt from the glass, its effectiveness is reduced and you end up just resmearing the dirt all over the glass again. I've even seen some detailers doing this very thing. They'll baby the paint job with tons of towels, but use the same glass cleaning cloth over all of the glass. This simple method has worked great for me. Thanks for the reply!

to be honest you can probably pull this off with a clean set of towels, a new magic eraser, and distilled water. I love wipeout from american detailer garage (autofiber carries it and offers free shipping over $60) and I mix it 251:1. wipeout is my favorite glass cleaner but I'd you need help on interior windshield try cockpit 2020 glass cleaner from mckees

Wipe the exterior glass in one direction and the interior in another so you can tell what side the streaks are on. If it’s humid out you’ll have streaks for days. Let haze dry and then buff off like wax.

Magic eraser and the crap that's in it combine with your spray and the window muck to make a new substance the is tough to get off. It still drags around on the micro fiber and is hard to remove. It may also react with cleaners you use to correct it. It stays with the glass. Tonight I cleaned my sister in law's inside glass that looked like 4 people had hyper spastic sex in the car. (Nissan Rogue). I sent Mr. Clean Clean back to the gym. I sprayed Zep amonia free concentrate 2 oz. in 32 oz on the inside windshield and wiped it of with a clean MFT. Sprayed some more Zep and (here is where Mr drops the ball) I took a 6" silicone squeegee and ran it across the windshield leaving behind super clear glass. There were a few wet lines that I picked off with the MFT. I believe the squeegee takes the mix of filmy window crud and cleaner and scraps it completely off the glass. The streaky crud is gone and not getting moved around by the MF. Hell when you squeegee at the pump the glass looks good just cant do the inside. I do advise that you completely finish the front glass before doing any cleaning, dressing, and protecting on the dash. Big+ your not grinding so much micro fiber lint everywhere,

My wife is convinced that a Magic Eraser can scratch glass b/c it's abrasive. Should I be concerned? Reason I ask is that after using your system (which I thought worked great), I noticed that my windshield seemed to have thousands of what look like micro-pits, as if it had been sand-blasted. I'm assuming that this was pre-existing, perhaps as a defect in the windshield (the car is just six months old, BTW), and I didn't notice it before only because of the filth.

Totally wrong lighting for cleaning interior glass, and especially to teach others. Why are you wearing that Phagg LED light? You should have used a strong bright light shining from OUTSIDE the car blasting through the windscreen, preferably in a darkened envirinment. Then, you can see exactly whats on the glass and the effectiveness of your work. Lastly, there is 100% no soap used in the formulation of any car detailing products. Even dishwashing detergents do not contain soap.
