How To Clean Your J's: The Best Way To Keep Your Sneakers Fresh

The UNC colorway is hands down one of the best in the game, so it is only right that we teach you how to clean the latest UNC release!
In today's Shoe Care Academy episode Pretty Boy Rob walks you though how to clean the soft bright blue nubuck on these AJ5's using the RESHOEVN8R Essential Cleaning Kit. Cleaning nubuck can be tough, but with all the steps in this video I am confident you will be a Shoe Care Specialist in no time.
To achieve these results we used the pretreatment method and completely avoided the washing machine, then after air drying the sneakers we saw a little bit of color fade and fixed that up with Mink Oil. Overall, the shoe cleaned up great and held up even better!

We are very sorry to hear that. Did you apply Mink Oil to the sneaker to bring back the color? Unfortunately all of these pairs have the potential to bleed due to the dye that the factory uses.

Hello, Alex. I came here to inform you that the baby oil does work. The colour is a little bit off But way better than the faded look in my opinion. But some baby oil in a container, dip a very soft brush (toothbrush for example) and apply it to the faded area. Give it time to dry and your shoes will look very simmiliar to What they used to!

I spilled a bit of bleach on the toe. I used vinegar to clean it which helped it a lot. But the bleach of course pulled the color. I now need to use dye to get it back to that blue. What color and brand of dye would you recommend?

Oil unfortunately is a really hard stain. It would help, but it really depends if the oil soaked into the material.

There is probably a water mark, you would need to clean the entire shoe evenly and allow it to air dry

You can get suede wet, but it is super tricky. The sneaker has to be cleaned evenly and the shoe really has to dry evenly to avoid water marking

We would recommend brushing the suede in multiple directions with a dry medium bristle brush, this should help reset the nap of the suede.

@@RESHOEVN8R To be honest, I work with shoes too. I know how hard is to get some stains out of it. Show us some real cleaning of messy , dirty and really used shoes. Not brand new shoes you just made "dirty" for purpose. Dirt has to sit a little bit so it can be called REAL dirt. Your cleaning is real, but dirt you clean is not real :)
