I too used this method today. I had NEVER cleaned this shield. The entire shield was some shade of brown, from light tan to dark brown. As soon as I dropped it in, the surface of the water was immediately covered in brown residue. So, I decided to do this a second time and now it looks like new. Very little scrubbing to finish it off. Thanks so much for this video!

Hi Rachel. Thank you for posting this. I tried it tonight and it worked nicely. :-) The only real struggle I had was with the metal clip parts and the metal ring around the edge. Even with soaking I had to really really scrub those parts with the grill brush and they came most of the way clean. I scrubbed till I couldn't anymore. I have some trouble with my hands so it got a little difficult. Then I threw it in the dishwasher. Bottom line, it's much better than before. :-) thank you

@@NightTimeMommyReviews, today I cleaned my screen like this for the second time. It turned out even better than the first. :-). However, I have found when I use this method, that as I'm adding the baking soda, and vinegar slowly, there starts to be a residual baking soda residue on my stove all around the pot. I end up having to clean my whole stove after doing this. I'm totally grateful for the method, any tips on maybe not having that happen? Lol I know. It's totally a first world problem. :-)

If there is grease build up on the basket you could then add baking soda, and pour vinegar over the baking soda. Allow to sit for an hour, and use warm soapy water along with the Ninja cleaning brush, and it should come right off depending on the amount of build up :) Hope that helps

Thank you Rachel for the great tip on how to clean the splatter guard. I have an issue with the grill plate itself. I grilled frozen salmon that was already marinated it caused a lot of stubborn grease buildup. I used the brush that was provided and scrubbed for a long time. I also soaked it in vinegar and water for a few hrs which helped a little. Since that episode of the salmon, a lot of grease sticks on and takes about a half hr to an hr to clean off. Is there an easy tip on cleaning the nonstick grill plate without distorting the grill? Thank you again!
@NightTimeMommyReviews4 жыл бұрын
Hi Noura :) I found that to be a struggle as well. I have actually found that the new dawn powerwash spray is great for the grill grate. It sprays in between the grates, and after sitting for just a couple minutes, its ready to be wiped down. I believe the powerwash spray is only $4.99 at Target right now, and since its a new product they have a $2.50 coupon in the target app so it ends up being $2.49. Its a great deal, and I personally have loved it!

I sent you a message earlier regarding the NFG cleaning. I clean my grill after each use, but have noticed a film, a greasy film left on the grill even after two washings. I absolutely LOVE your video on cleaning the grease screen in the baking soda and vinegar. It works like a charm. Have you ever put your grill in there for a deeper clean? I'm considering it to cut that film of grease.
@NightTimeMommyReviews3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracy :) For the grill main unit, I have used a baking soda/vinegar paste to remove the built up grease, and used a wet rag to clean it off. This works well since the unit is large and I dont want to submerge it in liquid. I show how in this video below. Hope this helps :) Thanks for watching kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5XJpKGfjZKIeKs&t
@tracypeters11353 жыл бұрын
@@NightTimeMommyReviews Oh, no I was not considering submerging the whole unit! (Ha!) No, I meant the actual grill part that you can take in and out to clean, the part that you put your steak, pork chop, scallops on. Do you think I could drop it into that vinegar baking soda "bath"?

Hey Rachel. I have used this method to clean my splatter shield and it's fantastic. :-) thank you so much. But I also have a question. I have some baked on grease residue in my air crisp basket. At least I think it's grease. It's rather reminiscent of the discoloring of a cookie sheet if that makes sense. Do you think this method would work on the air crisp basket to release some of that? Have you ever tried it?
@sianleitz47074 жыл бұрын
Hey Rachel. The update is it worked on my air crisp basket too. :-) I didn't have a pot big enough to hold the basket, so I just used to the base pan. I poured in boiling water and then slowly added the vinegar and baking soda. I let it sit for 15 minutes. I probably should have let it sit longer, but with a little bit of scrubbing and 45 minutes soak in hot water and Dawn after the cleaning procedure, it looks almost like new again. :-)
