This is the best record cleaning demonstration that I have seen so far. Thanks for this.

It`s been years since I`d listened to an actual record since the introduction of CD`s and their portability, but with a possible upcoming purchase of a turntable made by a company beginning with the letters "Sch", I`m ready to listen again to the albums I have remaining after a 2005 house fire (what a vinyl mess!), as well as my parents` old LP`s. I`d no idea the Discwasher was still around. Looks like I`ll be getting one.

Thank you for addressing the line of dust! Every video just says use the brush but I knew I wasn't done when there's a line of dust there! I used this technique and double checked by just lifting the brush up and no more line of dust!

No! You work with the grooves, not against. It has always been that way & now everyone is getting the wrong info & doing it wrong. There is a reason you go from the outside in.

The current Discwasher brush is a simple velour pad , not the special fabric of the RCA Discwasher of the past . Find a decent old one . A cleaning machine with vacuum removal will get records so much cleaner and improve the sound more than most people can imagine . After such cleaning they always need a distilled water rinse and vacuum . It's audible

I do a quick clean with cloth/brush then put em on my table and rock out!!.. only if i have a real dirty lp do i do any kind of deeper clean..been doing this for 40 years.. sounds awesome.. I bought them to play not give them the white glove treatment...best tip play them wet and call them lps not vinyls....to each there own

Can you use a dust brush when the turntable is spinning ? I asking because I was doing like this and now my turntable is not spinning. I don't what has happened :|
@davenelson8187 Жыл бұрын
I’ve always spun up the platter by hand applying finger pressure at the outer edge of the label into the end area of the grooves, before hand. At least twice or more as needed.
@krustyassninja6663 жыл бұрын
But but but ... Ya don't clean a record on the turntable. That knocks dust on the turntable and that is now there to go to the underside of the record. Ya know how static works right?

Ok everybody wants a Before & after sound test!!! But What You Really Want is a After TEST!!! Who cares what they sounded like before he cleaned it I want to know what it sounds like after he cleaned it.. I know everybody want to hear crackle and pop's then watch how they clean it then hear the play back with nothing but music & that's the machine there going to buy!! Well that the wrong way of looking at it. I used to clean my records with a Q-typ before getting a Project VC-E clean machine. By putting my fluid on the record then while the record is spinning I lightly put my Q-tip on the record moving of back-and-forth and twirling it all the way from the outer edge to the center. They came out pretty clean to me it took a while but it worked . The cleaning pads/ brushed work great to get the top dirt off but, if there really dirty then you may want to get a a vacuum or an ultrasonic cleaning machine both of those will work great.
@alanhaywood013 жыл бұрын
Most snap, pop and crackles are due to junk in the grooves rather than record damage, so almost any cleaning will improve the record. The important thing is to avoid cleaning solutions that might leave crud in the groovesI can convert almost unbearably bad LPs to near mint after wet cleaning (mostly)

EXCELLENT, nice job indeed. Many thanks for the clear, professional tutorial. Wondering: Is the black arrow on the end of your (old-school non-bristle) brush supposed to indicate a direction for use? Again, much obliged.

My dad had an anti static gun at one point back in the late 70s along with one of those electric rotational cleaning machines. There was also a roller that had a sticky tape that would need to be replaced regularly.

The proper way to use a carbon fiber record brush. Ignore the Discwasher demonstration with the fluid which will leave a film, and the Discwasher brush that just pushes dirt further into the grooves. There is no brush in the world whose bristles are smaller than the grooves of a record. The second best way to clean a record is using a vacuum cleaner. Some of these cleaners are better than others. The best way is to use an ultrasonic record cleaner.
@themidnightchickenpodcast36433 жыл бұрын
do some research before spouting off incorrect information please. i looked up everything for you. most carbon fiber brushes are .02mm, most record grooves are .04mm - .08mm. Human hair is .01mm - .02mm thick usually
