Everyone please note. To clean the cell you can just spin off the two black barrel unions then turn the cell upside down. Then you have a container for your acid washing. Then you don’t have to get the cell out at all. Also if there is too much calcium you won’t be able to get the cell out anyway. MRT
@GaryAdler2 жыл бұрын
Very useful information. Thank you - my pool has a high calcium level. In terms of adding sodium bicarbonate, how much would you suggest adding for a 45,000 L pool?
@Marksreviewsandtutorials2 жыл бұрын
A general rule of thumb is to get the calcium level and the Total alkalinity to add together to a total of 300.

If someone used a screwdriver while cleansing a cell, and scratched some of thr plates, do you believe this would stop the chlorinator from producing entirely? Or just possibly limit it’s production? Thanks for the video.
@Marksreviewsandtutorials Жыл бұрын
The cells get brittle especially when they are a bit old. So yes getting in there with a screw driver can cause a crack and stop the whole thing. If you need a new cell or Chlorinator contact Nillumbik Pool & Spa Service we ship them all over Australia at good prices. The Best Saltwater Chlorinator in Australia by far. K Chlor Digital. @Marksreviewsandtutorials Жыл бұрын
There needs to a connection for the electrical current to run. There are tabs that join onto the cell plate material, the cell plates and the tabs can break away either end and stop the current.

Thanks heaps Mark. Much appreciated. I’ve done all that and it’s back up and running but there isn’t an air pocket at the top of the chlorinator. Is that an issue and if so how do I get the air pocket back?
@Marksreviewsandtutorials3 жыл бұрын
The air pocket isn't required. when there is sufficient flow that air will be pushed back out to the pool. the only problem is too little flow and too much air if that happens.

@Marksreviewsandtutorials6 жыл бұрын
Hi Bay Area Mobile Detailing I have just flown through SFO and I am now at LAX on my way back to Australia. Having no o’ring will definitely cause a leak. Have a good look on the ground under the cell or where you washed it. It may have just dropped out. 😀

Hi Alan. When these get old they tend to go high current and then can warp. If that is the case it won’t come out. If you are after a new Chlorinator in Australia check out this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXSxp3ymg6anpcU

@aliwoh2 жыл бұрын
I think everyone would like to see you remove the cell from this particular model, not the one in your other video. If your cell needs cleaning on this model, chances are that you’ll have to remove the whole module and push the cell out by putting your fingers in the “out” hole. You can’t remove it by pulling it alone.

Yes thank you Mark and i did watch that video of yours before but just wondered if i did the same with my cell as it is exactly the same as the one in this video so i will try it..thanks very much for your help
@Marksreviewsandtutorials7 жыл бұрын
Yes, just make sure that the water won't spill onto the electric motor or a power point or anything like that. You can also just 1/2 take the lock nut off and then give it a quick run. This will pop it off the seal.

Thanks for your videos. Do you by any chance have a video on how to floc your pool with a cartridge system? I have been told that I can floc the pool and then remove the cartridge and vacuum out the residue to waste. I thought it might be a useful video if you haven't already made one! Thank you!
@sphinx2k2106 жыл бұрын
The Zodiac website says you should simply remove the drum vertically off the two pipes, and clean with 1:10 acid upside down - not remove the cell out of the side and mess up seals.
@Marksreviewsandtutorials6 жыл бұрын
I don’t see how undoing two o’ring seals. Is better than undoing 1 on the end. It doesn’t muck up o’ring seals to open them. When the calcium is light it can sometimes be hosed off with no acid. To do that you need to pull it out of the end. But yes this cell has multiple entry points for sure. Thanks for highlighting that.

Hi! How to screw the cap back on so it is sealed? I've tried three times, and it still leaks a little once I turn system back on.
@Marksreviewsandtutorials6 жыл бұрын
Hi Kris. Usually cleaning the thread and o’ring, just wipe it all with a cloth and then putting some silicone lubricant on the o’ring is enough to fix this. Otherwise look for small cracks which will require part replacement
