How to clean your shark vacuum filter

In this video I will be showing you how to clean your shark vacuum filters. I am using the cordless shark vacuum iz201uk but this is the same as the iz251uk. In America this this model is also known as the vertex.
I am loving my shark duoclean with anti hair wrap which I have now owned for 1 month so the dust bin was looking a little dirty so decided to give it a clean. I will be emptying the bin and removing the canister to reveal the different types of filters the foam and felt filters.

Very good video , one extra tip for those of us that are perhaps not so good at regular cleaning ! If the bin filters have been left for several months , you can whack the filters between your hands like clapping (but do it outdoors) to get rid of the majority of the dust ( otherwise rinsing a really clogged filter in your sink gets really mucky ) Worth inspecting the tubes for obstructions , and brushing/ cleaning the suction head and it’s rollers too , to restore max performance. .

Just a quick question on washing the dust cup I'm a bit worried as I rinsed the bottom were the filters go which you advised not to do and small amount of water has seeped into the plastic below the latch that releases the bin, it's not much but there's no way I can remove the filter holder to dry it. Do you think it will dry out and would it be ok to attach back as I can't see where it would leak. Sorry for long question !! Wish I'd taken more notice of your video before I washed it. Take Care

I did struggle to clean the under the seal on the bin. It seems that dust has gotten trapped under the seal but I'm worried about cleaning it as I don't want to damage the seal.

Useful on cleaning the filters but the bit near the beginning and end on detaching/opening and reattaching the dust canister could be done more slowly and clearly and maybe repeated. Those are the things I find tricky. Thanks.

Great video. Loud noise seem to be coming from the filter area especially when increasing the power. Any idea what this could be?

Yes take off the wand and bottom roller head and try the unit itself without all attached if it’s still making the noise check for anything blocked in the unit check around the spiral bit inside the bin. If the noise is fine then the blockage is in the pipe or head take the head off and look down the pipe hold this to light so you can see all the way through. If still nothing check the head there are 3 like flat headed clips you need to twist to get access take this off and check the part which goes up to the tube. Check my other video of how to clean the roller head that may help on how to check. Hope this helps a little thank you for commenting and supporting my channel

Unfortunately this is a massive design issue from shark you can’t remove you can only remove the bottom where the rollers are and the tube that takes it up the pipe to the bin. See my other video for how to clean the plastic piece. Thank you for your comment and support

Hi check the underside of the unit roller it has x3 flat heads to turn which gives more access another place to clog up is the hose where it bends take the hose off this has a clip of if worried take off the stick and shine a light down to check for blockages hope this helps a little

I have had 3 sharks over the years and did not realize the top engine filter was removable and washable😮 I looked for a video to see if I could deodorize it cos it stinks every time I turn the shark on. Hi, if you're replacing the filter once a month, how often are you suppose to wash them? Thank you

I haven’t yet I’m afraid I am tempted to get the car cleaning kit at some point I think the unit is too bit itself to do it but with the kit I think it would work great as it has a flexi pipe

I cleaned the hepa filter and when I put it back and turned it on it blows it out . What am I doing wrong?

There is some blockage somewhere check the hose take it off the machine and look down it, I find taking it outside and looking up at the light should help. See how you get on and let me know

@@decisionsdecisions8906 I did all that and even pushed water through the hose, let it dry overnight, No good. When I put everything back it still blew it out' so..... my conclusion is time for a new vacuum.( the one I am dealing with is VERY old) Thank you for your help.
