I shattered my whole body 33 months ago. Shattered hip shattered pelvis broke 10 ribs bruised lungs bruised femer, I am 55 kicking ass I've always dreamed of climbing big mountains closest I've gotten is mountain warfare school in the marines and few peaks in Colorado, I know it sounds crazy but I feel I could do that in another year or so been my rehab goal since the fall, to be in good enough shape to climb a mountain. Getting close you climbers motivate me big time. Gotta be great feeling prolly never get a chance but love the videos

I believe in you. If you set your mind to it, prepare properly, and take the safety precautions needed, I think you could do it. However, you MUST put your ego and pride aside. If you start to feel those injuries come back up, call it. You may feel like an asshole getting everyone jazzed up and using all this prep time just for you to head back, but you'll feel like an even bigger asshole getting injured and becoming a liability and have to be rescued. So I would say at least attempt it, talk to your physical therapist and your doctor, get a training regimen started and go through it properly, talk with some experienced mountaineers, and Godspeed.

@@OleSmokey not a bad choice. Definitely work your way up to the big boys, it's best to do this even for people with no prior injuries. On my way moving to Denver, my buddy and I stopped by the capulin volcano to check it out. I thought I was in okay shape, but being from Florida, I learned that the altitude absolutely will wreck your shit. And that wasn't a bad hike at all, it was pretty tame actually. So again, leave your pride and ego and build that foundation properly, or just as the house built on sand will crumble, you will as well. Preparation, training, and more preparation and training.

So I did Denali solo about 10 years ago. I did not have a "huge pack" - you place most of the load on a sled. Also this is physical mountain for people used to Sherpa doing everything for them. For me it was touch harder than easy 7000er. Lobuche East is NOT a preparation for Denali - done it as well - last year. It is not. None of they Himalaya trekking peaks do much more than prepare you for altitude. Come on! I did Lobuche east in two days, with my 2nd day utilizing sandwiches made in a restaurant at Lobuche. All 6000 trekking peaks are two day adventures. Denali took me a month. Compare 2 days to a month.

My son and I have Denali as our 5-year goal, right now we train with 30-40lb packs in the Rocky MTN Range. Which is a lot less than the 70lb ditty bag I'm accustomed to marching with lol. Would Aconcagua be a better choice to prepare for Denali? We've already got plans for Rainier next year, as well as continuing to knock out the more difficult 14ers.

It's consistently the coldest place in the world in winter. Guy's who climb that in winter are built different than even the normal alpine climber. It's cold and wind that you cannot really understand until you're in it. There is no getting warm even inside your tent and bag. At best you're just surviving, barely.

I think another problem with mt denali is that it’s location really creates very very sudden storms and severe winds due to no barrier between it and the pacific.

Hi - You can check out good progressions on our website: www.climbingthesevensummits.com - but for Denali, starting off with peaks like Elbrus, Ecuador Volcanoes and then moving on to say a 3 Peaks in Nepal and Aconcagua are great prep for Denali.

The main one he mentioned was Mt Vinson (Vinson massif) in Ellsworth land, Antarctica. As far as using that to train for Denali, it costs $42,000 to $50,000 to climb

Eh? Everest isn’t difficult to climb. It’s easy to walk. He then says…”There are no yaks or porters to help”. Then says…”Catch the plane to base camp”!!!!!!!! I’m not a mountaineer but I do know words!
@manjotSingh-ib7ho
@manjotSingh-ib7ho 2 жыл бұрын
What he means to say is that the terrain is relatively easier on Mount Everest. There are many mountains which are of less altitudes but more technically challenging than Everest. Also there is a lot of help available while climbing Mount Everest like you could hire porters to carry most of your gear and supplies. Also you can hire Sherpas to guide you throughout the journey. Where as Denali is more remote and you have to do most of the work yourself. Hope that helps 😄.

@@Paonporteur there’s no climbing involved mate. It’s just walking uphill. Just don’t forget to unclip from the ropes that the Sherpa have fixed!!

@@Paonporteur I have mate. The altitude is the only tough part. But using O2 makes even that quite easy. Does it not turn your stomach to see queues of hundreds of people waiting in line to have their photo taken on the summit? It’s a bucket list boast. Which kills Sherpas and damages the Khumbu region. It’s not so different from big game hunters posing with a Lion carcass that they’ve shit from 500 yards. It’s sick.
