The Gold is great for folks that eat out all the time you can use the Gold card as driver card you can rank up points easy then use the platinum for travel

We have the Bonvoy business and Hilton Surpass. I dumped the Delta gold last year because I don't fly Delta much in retirement. I did have the AMex Platinum for 10 years. I dumped it and got the Venture X and haven't looked back.

I had the purple one. "Reserve" think it was called. I traveled a LOT. It was 600 a year. Got rid of it after I stopped traveling so much and now have the free blue one.

I just went from essentials to explorer. Took up an Amex offer.
@aeroAdvocateАй бұрын
There is really nothing to climb. The charge cards are the easiest to be approved for as they don't have a firm credit limit. And Amex doesn't care if the color of the card you apply is Green/Gold/Platinum. Approval requirements are the same for all of them.
@kaaylaskorner2 ай бұрын
I dumped the Gold card this year after holding it for 30 years. Higher cost with no increase in benefits? Why? And it does not give 4X points for all restaurants. Was in NYC a couple of times this year and dined at a few privately owned sup shops and cafes that I did not get 4x points for. When I asked AMEX about this, they said 4x points are mostly for "established" restaurants, which I've come to realize means mostly chain restaurants. I did just apply for their Hilton card for the 100,000 SOB so I'll see how that one works out.

Great video! For the AMEX platinum card can you buy gift cards with the Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection to trigger the annual hotel credit and combine gifts cards for booking hotel later?

Do you recommend starting with the green card then gold then platinum to follow the Amex family rule? I know the gold has an elevated offer right now
@LK_EBM2 ай бұрын
Yes, if you want to get all the sign up bonuses. Don't worry about elevated offers. Offers (and inflation) will always go up over time.

Hi can you speak to the order in which you need to get the intermediate? I've heard if you get a platinum you can't go back and get Subs for a gold or green. Id like to hear your take on this. Thanks!!
@randallondrusek2 ай бұрын
I’ve heard that AMEX has a once in a lifetime sign up bonus offer. Say if you get the platinum card right away, you won’t be eligible for any sign up bonus on the lower gold and green cards. What path do you recommend? Get green, wait 2yrs, get gold, then 2yrs later platinum? Would that allow you to get all sigh up bonuses?

ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR CREDIT CARDS WITH NO CREDIT HISTORY.
@TruInferno9 күн бұрын
go with chase & start with their secure cards or something like the Chase Freedom Rise. Then either use that card(s) for a couple of years or go for Chase $95 Trifecta. Then move onto American Express. Even though American Express has the most travel partners, it's tied with Chase for having the best. So you can transfer chase points to the same travel partner that American Express has regarding a flight that you're trying to take in the future & you'll be better off.

But is it STILL WORTH IT to get the charge cards (green, gold, platinum) due to the increased annual fees? On the flip side Amex didn’t equally increase the benefits.

I use AmEx Offers to offset my Plat annual fee. I’m way over the $695 fee using spending I already planned to make: gas, utilities, travel, etc.
@djjackson18482 ай бұрын
Don't do annual fees unless you can use the benefits of the card that will offset that fee. Otherwise, get cards with no annual fee. There are plenty of great cards with no annual fee. I have Discover, US Bank, Synchrony, Citi, etc... great cards, high limits but no annual fee. I gotta Amex Everyday ™ too tho because Amex but this particular Amex has no annual fee...

I saved up to buy furniture for my apartment then just used the cards instead . the gold card I did naturally spending at grocery stores and restaurants the platinum I bought furniture and a couple trips to Vegas and 2 months rent those 2 gives you 6 months the blue business I bought random stuff for the house and tech and pad it off over time since it had zero apr. Funny thing it's been 2 years I have around 350k points and haven't done anything with them yet
