I feel like if you hit a Q sweetspot during the W animation the enemy should always get pulled unless they use movement abilities. It feels so dumb when you hit everything and they just walk out of it like nothing happened. By either not getting hit by W or Q or using a movement ability and therefore being able to walk out, I feel like W would still leave plenty of counterplay.

Third game where you were playing from behind was the most educational. The solid logic of when you're allowed to split push, how to build tempo for objectives etc. was great. Really common situation for me too: I'm building a solid lead on my laner but not fast enough to impact my bot lane who's completely inting.

so just to clarify aatrox q DOES NOT have a reduced cooldown for not using your 3rd q. What happens is that the 4 seconds durring which you can recast q count as part of the cooldown. As an example if your q cooldown is 14 seconds and you hold q3 you wil notice q goes on a 10 second cooldown but you will still have to wait the full 14 seconds from the last time q was used.

possible confusion about q cooldown: if you use q3 let's say 0.5 seconds after your q2, compared to not using q3 at all, the actual cooldown difference will be only 0.5 seconds. so it's not about using or not using q3, cooldown starts after your last q whether it's q1, q2 or q3. You kinda phrased it like "if you don't use q3 it's much shorter" so it might confuse some guys. Just don't use q3 after like 3.5 seconds your q2 if it's not going to be useful and that's usually it.

I think it's to avoid getting too close on tryndamere. If you fight trynda head-on and you'll absurdly getting punished. So relying on your skills and basic attacks will be more of a burden than being an advantage. Doran's shield gives you regen and reduced damage so I think it's really good rather than the blade. Also for those who are reading this. You can correct me and/or improve this statement of mine.

Aatrox Main here: Alois the reason your W doesnt pull sometimes is because you do Not q2 stun him while W is active. When you Hit Q1 E W, walk up, use Q2 as you Are in the middle of W to make sure it pulls and use Q3 instantly After so it hits right as the W pulls. Hope this helps!

q doesn't get halved if you use q3. the cooldown starts after the last q you use, which is why it's the max cooldown after q3. but you're effectively still waiting the same amount of time. So you are right about not wasting q but the explanation wasn't entirely correct. Some cases you don't want to use q2 either, and you made it sound like it gets halved only if you don't use q3. might be confusing for new aatrox players.

akshually ur Q doesnt go on half cooldown. Ur Q goes on cooldown as soon as you cast it, so when u cast the q3 u can see the full cooldown and when u dont cast q3 u just cannot see the timer because of the q3 timer. So technically the cooldown is the same 10 seconds, u just have lower downtime of q if u dont q3 🤓
