The whole "not q3-ing puts it on a shorter cooldown" is an illusion, because you are still waiting for it to run out, its still the same cd, it starts after you click any of them, but the last one shows the full timer bc there are no more charges to show instead of the number. the only thing you really save is the animation

The Q cooldown level one is 14 seconds. If you Q one and wait for the timer for Q2 to run out, then the cooldown displayed is 10 seconds, as you have 4 seconds to throw a consecutive Q out. This would have taken you 2 seconds to fact check in a practice tool.

i know this video is old but there is something i feel i need to clarify. Not using q3 does not give you reduced cooldown on q. The way it actually works is that the recast time counts as part of the cooldown so if you look at rank 1 q, it has a 14 second cooldown, and the game gives you 4 seconds to recast q. If you dont use q3 your cooldown is "reduced" to 10 seconds but you still have to wait 14 seconds from the last time you used q.

Yea, I don't know how he was this wrong and wasn't getting corrected. There are 4 seconds where you can cast the next Q, which covers the general CD on the UI. In all his "Examples" Waiting out Q3 shows a 2 second CD because you've already waited for 4 seconds after Q2, so you're still getting a 2+4 second CD after your last Q cast. The CD is in fact the same in both scenarios. After using Q3, it's a 6 second CD because you don't have the 4 seconds of CD "hidden" by the Q3 indicator which lasts for 4 seconds. The only difference is which Q you are waiting for. Missing Q3 and getting Q1 back is better during a chase, but you don't really get more casts of Q by waiting out Q3, you just get more casts of Q1 and Q2 because you're cycling the CD to the earlier Q by not expending the Q3. That isn't to say the advice isn't technically right, even if he's wrong. Waiting out Q3 while chasing if it won't kill is good because you'll lose distance if it's not actually going to hit. In a lot of cases, letting it time out for more Q1s and Q2s during chases is often correct because you need the extra distance as you will slowly lose space as you stand still to Q or Auto (as with any other champ).

If you use only 2 Qs and wait for the 3rd so you get a faster cooldown aren't you already "waiting"? you don't actually get a 2 seconds difference you just waited the CD. So you might as well use the 3rd Q to get more damage. Because in both scenarios you are waiting for the full Q CD.

But once you have enough ability haste (q maxcd under 4 seconds), isn't it better to use q3 fast, since you have to wait for 4 seconds, when saving q3, to recast q1 anyway ? Little late, but the issue with using Q3 even if your ability haste is high enough is that you’ll be stuck in animation lock while casting it, meaning you can’t move without putting your e on cooldown which you’ll want to hold onto to guarantee your next Q1 landing

It's wrong to view it as a 4 sec cooldown on Q1 and Q2. It is true that the cooldown on Q3 is 8 sec, but on e.g. Q1 you need to wait 2 sec before the cooldown of 4 sec begins to tick. It begins instantly on Q3, so when comparing it is better to view it as 2+4=6 sec vs. 8 sec. That is a relevant rebate but it's not half cooldown as your impression might be after viewing this video.

What I wonder about the Q cooldown: When you instantly use your 3 Qs in a row, then you have an 8 sec cooldown. If you let your 2nd Q run out, you only have 4 secs cooldown, but you also waited for 4 seconds to let it run out. So isn't it better to use Q3 directly after Q2 when you have a use for it?

Something really cool to see would be a day tracker. It might be a good idea to make a list of who you consider a top-lane champion. You have your obvious ones like Darius, Sett, Ilaoi, Renekton, etc... but the cut-off can be a little fuzzy. Like... Vayne is usually considered a top-lane champ, but is Kai'sa? She's been proven to work top, but most people wouldn't call her a top lane champ. And god knows this comment section needs a list of everyone you intend to run.

@@kevingriffith6011He doesn't "have" to do anything. His definition of a good top lane champion can be whatever he wants it to be, and it doesn't have to be defined by actual meta at all. Things go in and out of the meta anyways. Things like Viktor top, which was top meta for several patches in a row, and then deleted from the top lane completely with a few changes is an obvious case where attempting to keep a "list" simply fails. I imagine his top lane list will be arbitrary. Since he's going one champ at a time, it's likely that maybe while Varus top is super meta right now, by the time he finishes a few more, Varus will be completely out of the meta, and not even deserve an unranked to masters video anymore. If you were around during season 3, you'll remember that Elise top was her premier position for a while. Nidalee top was meta in Season 2, fell out of favor, but is now seeing some play again with the new items, and is in many ways even more viable than champs like Illaoi who were omega nerfed by the wall placements in Season 14 and may never see play again due to this problem that is hard to fix with anything but straight stat buffs. There's simply no need for a complete list if that list can change drastically by the time he actually gets around to a specific champion or whatever.

He's already done Kayle to master top, but what if next season she's a jungler or an ADC because of some wild balance patch? That's the flaw with an "all champions in a lane to master" run and why I think it's useful to set expectations with your viewers. That being said, yes, "needs to" is a strong word. He doesn't need to do anything, but it would be useful to his fanbase if they knew his intentions, which is the point I was trying to get to.

It's not like if Aatrox becomes a mid laner, everything relating to fundamentals in his Aatrox video is invalidated, there's still a ton of useful information. A list of top champions that's not accurate only hurts people who see it late.
