I noticed that you're hitting down on the rear housing whereas the instructions say to hit on the front housing. I've got a powermaster that I have to reclock and don't want to mess things up. Also - I tried this on an old alternator and couldn't get the front housing separated. I'm guessing that this operation should / could only be done on a newish alternator.

Huge help - thank you! PS - he’s not kidding about being careful tightening those case screws. I broke one of mine with less than 13 lb-ft of torque. I don’t know what their spec is, but in the end I stopped at 8 lb-ft and used blue thread locker.

Hello, i have a CS 130 Style alternator with the 1 wire connector plug. But my question is, do i need a alternator with PLFS or PLIS? OR is it the same. I have a conversion from Vintage Auto Garage with the PLFS regulator for my 1954 Dodge. Hope you can help me. Best Christoph

Great informative video! I use a Camaro serpentine accessories brackets on my Chevy powered Jeep CJ and was running into the same issue with the alternator battery terminal just above the valve cover. Thank you for the clocking video!

Is this a way to gain extra amps at idle? If NOT do u have a video showing those steps?
@TonyTheTechnician4 жыл бұрын
Yes this alternator can supply more amps at idle than a stock alternator. I have also ran all 0 Gauge for the alternator and battery. 👍

@@TonyTheTechnician Thanks for reply Tony! Next big question; is since I'm work on "house power" connections in a camper RV... shouldn't I be able to run an isolated current directly from alternator after doing these big 3 or big 4 (was also told that i should run 1 awg from alternator backing plate to car ground) to keep alternator from overheating...kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWSod3qifbV5es0; thereby prolonging alternator life... so my actual question is... is running a 300a fused solenoid line ( zero gauge) directly from alternator positive out to rv house battery bank ( 3 -12 volts in parallel a.1140a cca950 b. 1000a 900cca c. 1000a 900cca batteries) with the negative going to what? ( car ground or back to solenoid or engine battery) feasible? or what's the BEST WAY to provide AS MUCH CHARGING CURRENT AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE RISK OF SHOCK OR COMPONENT FAILURE??? THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSE AND SORRY FOR SUCH A LONG QUESTION. WAS TRYING TO PROVIDE AS MUCH SITUATIONAL DETAIL AS POSSIBLE. T.C

@@sydneymauricehuddleston3280 sounds like you have it all figured out correctly. As far as the ground. Its always a good idea to supply a good ground from it to the chassis especially after doing the big 3 upgrade. As long as your battery has a great ground to chassis then just ground the case to chassis and you should be good. You don't have to run it to the solenoid. If your solenoid needs a ground then the chassis should be fine as well. 👍 It's all good hopefully I answered some of that. If I missed anything please let me know lol.

Good video Tony. I just realized I have no inverted Torx sockets. Have a great week.

Bruce L. Thank you and ya they aren’t all that common but run into them every once in awhile

A 6pt 1/4” socket will remove the inverted torx through bolts also. I build alternators for a living and it’s all I’ve ever used.

Is this with any alternator or just high end ones?

Most all alternators can be clocked. The part that holds them together may differ a little bit but most of them can be clocked

I think a dented valve cover adds a touch of class to a build, but I guess this will work you can always dent something else.

Only today did I realize that Clock 11 meant that the electrical plug was oriented to 11 O'Clock as you look at it from the back, when it is mounted on the vehicle.
